ABOUT THE ROLE

Software developers are responsible for serving the business and contributing to its success. Such service will be realized by championing personal, team, departmental, and company goals and strategies with a commitment to excellence and a spirit of perseverance.  
 

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED 

Required Technical Skills at least 5-6 years:

  • Development Frameworks – Multiple Front End Frameworks (Angular, React, Next Js), Node.js, J-Query
  • Azure DevOps
  • Languages – XML, HTML 5, JavaScript, CSS 3, Typescript
  • Application Tools – Visual Studio Code, Visual Studio 2022, IIS
  • Desktop Software – Microsoft Office Suite
  • Operating System – Windows
  • Software concepts and patterns – Object Oriented, Relational Database Design. N-Tier Design
  • Experience developing rich internet applications using HTML5/CSS3/JavaScript
  • Strong understanding of web standards (http protocols, browser, html, etc.)
  • Leadership and experience planning and implementing web centric software architecture (front to back end) 

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS PREFERRED 

At least 3-4 years.  

  • Project development methodologies (full development lifecycle) with Agile/Scrum/DevOps experience
  • Requirements gathering
  • Mockup designs from word documents and wireframe experience
  • Strong experience in mobile development and styling
  • Knowledge of site speed optimizing tools
  • SPA/Headless experience
  • Lead full stack web development
  • Relational database analysis, design, and construction
  • Trouble analysis and resolution with individual software applications and multi-application interfaces
  • Travel industry business a plus
  • Global Distribution System (GDS) experience is highly sought

Preferred Technical Skills:

  • Frameworks/Libraries – Microsoft .Net 4, c#, ASP.Net, MVC, Entity Framework 5, Vue.js, WCF, WebAPI 2.2, WinForms, Linq, ADO
  • Database – Microsoft SQL Server TSQL, NoSQL, Oracle SQL, PLSQL
  • Web/E-Commerce – Knockout
  • Desktop Software – TOAD
  • Software concepts and patterns - SOA, PubSub, Messaging BUS, Test Driven Development.
  • Experience with NoSQL Databases (Mongo, etc.)
  • Understanding of version control, continuous integration, and deployment tools

EDUCATION

The preferred candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree or have 5-6 years of related experience or both.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

Sr. Software Developer is responsible for the following results:

  • Maintain and enhance a mixture of business software
  • Follow GVI Technology standards for analysis, design, programming, testing, and support of software solutions
  • Commit to assisting in developing clear business requirements
  • Provide value by integrating business rules and content in accordance with requirements
  • Express ideas for process improvements to increase flexibility, reduce costs, and improve user experience
  • Contribute to a team effort by accomplishing tasks as assigned
  • Cross-train as needed to support or back up team members
  • Promote positive relationships internally and externally
  • Seek to present zero defect products to the Quality Assurance and Production environments
  • Seek continual improvement of system availability, performance, and workflow
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of project methodologies, e.g., estimating, use cases, testing
  • Provide input to software product review and selection
  • Contribute to the creation and adherence of best practice standards for analysis, design, coding, testing, and support of successful software solutions
  • Mentor and train others to use defined standards and help junior developers on technical approaches and best practices
  • Provide support to the team, department, and company regarding architectural design and strategy, and participate in Senior architectural team planning
  • Proven history of leadership regarding architectural design and strategy
  • Receive and complete assignments as an acting project manager, lead developer, or architect
  • Research and present recommendations regarding technology trends
  • Full lifecycle development front to back of web based application
  • Contribute to a DevOps culture and development of continuous integration processes and tools

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The following teams make up the Technology department: Business Analysis and Quality Assurance, Applications Development, Applications Support, and Engineering. The group identifies and develops technological strategies that support GVI’s business goals and objectives to ensure internal and external partners are provided with stable systems. These include: all desktop, network, phone and email systems, applications (reservations and operations systems), websites, and Internet access.
