For this position, we anticipate an annual salary between $140,000 - $160,000. Final employment offers will be dependent upon the selected candidate’s relevant qualifications and experience.


JOB SUMMARY

Stearns Bank, a mission-driven Minority Deposit Institutions (MDI) with deep roots in community banking, is seeking an experienced and results-oriented Senior Product Manager of Money Movement & Payments. In this critical role, you will be a key member of the Product Management team and support initiatives related to modernizing digital banking payment capabilities and developing innovative digital products that align with our community-first values, while supporting our growth objectives. You will be at the forefront of advancing Stearns Bank’s digital transformation to meet the evolving needs of individuals, small businesses, and underserved communities. You will work cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Technology, Fintech, External Vendors, Compliance, and Data teams to identify solutions, drive profitability, improve product competitiveness, enhance operational simplicity, and eliminate friction as well as uncover new opportunities for our customers and staff to more seamlessly handle payments and money movement. You will partner closely with our teams and will have the autonomy to test new ideas with the product team and continuously learn.

Your contributions will shape the bank’s ability to grow deposits sustainably while delivering exceptional value to customers, empowering economic development, and strengthening Stearns Bank’s mission of building strong communities through financial inclusion and innovation. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supporting and leading the development, enhancement, and automation of treasury management solutions and money movement products including Consumer & Business Bill Pay, Card (Debit & Credit), Merchant Acquiring, Cash Solutions, ACH, Wires, P2P, FedNew Service/RTP Network, OCT/AFT, and more.
  • Develop a clear product vision and digital roadmap aligned with business goals related to payments & money movement.
  • Design and implement payment and money movement products that align with Stearns Bank’s mission to promote financial inclusions, support economic growth, and empower underserved markets. 
  • Support the Fraud team in leading and enhancing all payment and money movement fraud mitigations strategies and technologies.
  • Support Product team KPIs related to deposit growth, interchange maximization, digital adoption, and customer retention to support the bank’s objectives. 
  • Support the Product team’s partnership with Fintechs and technology vendors to integrate efficient innovative solutions, ensuring scalability and compliance with banking regulations.
  • Drive new and existing digital solutions and enhancements that meet the unique money movement & payments needs of our customers, including Equipment Finance, Commercial Real Estate Developers, Small Businesses, Non-profits, Salaam Banking, Consumers, and more.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5-7+ years of experience in financial services/technology specifically related to digital banking, money movement and/or payments, and product management, with a consistent track record of driving growth and innovation. 
  • Strong partnership focus; prior success with indirect and direct leadership of all levels - up, down, and peer partners. Shown ability to work well with banking operations and information technology teams.
  • Experience building, owning, and managing digital product and payments platforms and business cases as well as broader financial product management responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated success in working with banking related money movement, payments, and sophisticated financial products 

 

Skills & Competencies

  • Knowledge and expertise of technically and operationally leading and implementing payment systems including, but not limited to ACH, Wires, BillPay, Card (Debit & Credit), P2P, Cash / ATM Solutions.
  • Expertise in payment related technologies, integrations, implementations, and end-to-end flow of funds as well as excellent third-party management skills.
  • Knowledge of payments and money movement mechanisms, infrastructure, and solutions.
  • Expertise in crafting, launching, and managing payments products that deliver customer value and competitive differentiation.
  • Outstanding ability to lead cross-functional teams, third-party vendors, and collaborate with internal and external partners. 
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using data to inform strategies and measure success.
  • Consistent track record of strong leadership and communication skills, with ability to build trust and engage diverse partners and executives.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. 
  • Literacy in English.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time, twist, bend, sit, walk use hands to twist, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, such as computer mouse, computer keyboard, calculator, stapler, telephone, staple puller, etc., reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, talk or hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
