The Senior Manager, Compliance / Compliance Counsel will play a vital role in shaping and driving Cepheid’s global healthcare ethics and compliance program.  This role will report to the Chief Compliance Officer of Cepheid.  This role will partner with Cepheid, Danaher Diagnostics Platform, and broader Danaher stakeholders to develop, implement, and continuously improve a global compliance program that meets or exceeds the organization’s objectives, compliance requirements, and expectations.  The successful candidate will have an opportunity to grow professionally within the role by assuming increasing levels of responsibility and gaining and applying knowledge across various fields.

This position is part of Cepheid’s Legal and Compliance organization.  Preference will be given to candidates who can be on-site at Cepheid’s Sunnyvale, California headquarters, although remote candidates located in or near other major Danaher U.S. hubs will be considered.  Cepheid’s Compliance team’s vision is to be a strategic partner with the business in shaping the future of the company in an ethical and compliant manner.   

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Drive proactive compliance leadership and engagement to ensure that business colleagues are responsible for compliance with policies, processes, controls and other initiatives.
  • With business leadership, support the Compliance Committee and ERM to drive real-time and relevant discussions of compliance topics, risks, mitigations, and program efforts.
  • Coordinate with the broader compliance team to implement business risk assessment initiatives and drive mitigation plans arising therefrom; and develop metrics and dashboards to monitor appropriate indicators or compliance health.
  • Monitor internal and external compliance trends, including compliance initiatives, industry compliance failures, and applicable, industry-specific regulatory requirements; and develop and implement corrective actions to mitigate identified risk.
  • Support Danaher and the Danaher Diagnostic Platform’s compliance efforts and other initiatives and projects as needed.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of related work experience or Master’s degree with 6+ years of related work experience.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and sustaining a compliance program.
  • Track record of developing followership and exerting influence across multiple levels of an organization (from factory floor to upper management) without direct reporting relationships or authority.
  • Experience working in a continuous improvement culture, using lean-process tools / process rigor.
  • In-depth knowledge of global healthcare / medical device industry codes, transparency laws, and applicable regulatory and compliance requirements, including the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, False Claims Act, and Anti-Kickback Statute, with an understanding of how these requirements apply to an organization’s daily operations.

It would be a plus if you also possess:

  • Previous experience in the Life Sciences, Medical Device, Diagnostics, Pharmaceutical, and / or Biotech industry with a multinational company.
  • Compliance certifications/credentials.
  • A law degree and active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, with the ability and desire to assume broader responsibilities across Cepheid Legal and Compliance.

The salary range for this role is $143,400 to $200,000.  This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
