About The Role:

This is a highly strategic and collaborative role facilitating daily interaction between Sales, Customers, Business Development, Engineering, Quality, Operations and Finance.  With global responsibility for Product Management over all X-ray products, you will work across customer, market segment, geography and applications to help Spellman define and deliver industry leading solutions.

Using best practices of a Product Management Framework, you will work in partnership with stakeholders to create the product vision, defining products, features and service needed to meet strategic needs, gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, evaluating competitive offerings and ensuring revenue, profit and customer satisfaction goals are met.

You will have responsibility for sales enablement activities including product launch and competitive comparisons, ensuring that the set of tools, processes and content provided to customer-facing employees helps them to have valuable conversations with customers and increase value add. 

The core focus is to enhance our ability to understand and provide what customers value and drive the Spellman Experience with X-ray sources. 

What You Will Do:

  • Contribute to the development, increased market share and profitability of new and existing products through insights and expertise gained by knowledge of Spellman methods, organization, technology and merging this with market research, competitive comparisons and customer needs supported by customers, Spellman sites and industry events. 

  • Help identify, enhance and communicate the value proposition and differentiable value for products to stakeholders by continuously enhancing both personal and organizational knowledge and expertise about how X-ray sources are used by customers.

  • Define the competencies Spellman requires to maximize our consultive value to our customers.  Assess current capabilities, by site.  Develop gap analysis and closure plan to meet business needs globally.  
  • Market intelligence – be the expert on our customers, their applications, how they buy and their buying criteria; be the expert on our competition and how to differentiate Spellman from them. Conduct competitive analysis and benchmarking.
  • Develop product marketing strategies, product specifications, pricing models, and plans for product introduction.
  • Address product questions from customers, sales and vendors, conduct product demos, and provide support for internal product requests.
  • Identify, organize, communicate and drive through influence the continuous improvement of our products cost and performance.

  • Draft cost/pricing positions for platforms to meet revenue and profitability goals.  Manage GP/CM.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on the product portfolio for segments, product portfolio and applications, and on the position and competitiveness of products in the marketplace.  
  • Analyze XRAY tube vendors and other potential partner(s) products, market positions and Spellman product compatibility.   Develop relationships and align roadmaps and market plans as required.
  • Facilitate resolution for major quality issues.
  • Participate/contribute to relevant forums including the X-Ray Sources working group.
  • Train the Sales and Business Development teams on new products and provide refresher training on existing products.
  • Sales Enablement

  • Collaborate to create content for product communications and marketing on the use and competitive position of X-ray sources.  
  • Plan the launch of new products and releases and manage the cross-functional implementation of the plan.
  • Develop a company-wide go-to-market strategy including core positioning, key messages, launch documents, datasheets, technical summaries and manuals/user.  Work with and leverage all departments to execute. 
  • Develop detailed marketing and competitor analysis for products.
  • Communicate cross functionally: Engineering - to define product release requirements; Marketing - for sales enablement and collateral, helping them understand the product positioning, key benefits and target customer; Sales and Business Development - to ensure that they understand and can effectively communicate the corporate message while building relationships to achieve objectives.  
  • Develop sales support tools.
  • Manage one or more professionals to achieve performance goals

What You Need:

  • BS degree level in Engineering, Physics or other technical discipline.

  • Good communication skills, both verbally and in written form, for communicating with customer and internal departments.

  • ​An eager self-starter, curious and driven to grow and contribute to adding customer value.   

  • Excellent organizational, leadership, problem solving and interpersonal skills.

  • Microsoft Office and sales contact databases experience preferred.  Will cross train.

  • Ability to prioritize workload and work under pressure to provide what our customers value.

  • Must possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality.

The above responsibilities are not exhaustive, and you may be required to fulfill other duties and responsibilities from time to time for which you are reasonably qualified. 

Our good faith estimate of the salary range for this role is $170,000 - $250,000.

Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and other factors. In addition to base pay, we offer a full benefits package.

This position offers a remote work model. Travel required for customer and vendor visits.
