Your Role

As a Senior DevOps Engineer on the team, you will design, build, and maintain secure, high-performance, scalable applications that power Honest Health’s products. You’ll treasure security, stability, scalability, and customer experience as first-order principles, striving to create thoughtful, delightful user interfaces and seamless workflows. In this role, you will enhance our development and operational processes, ensuring the seamless integration of software development and IT operations. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to implement best practices in continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) while maintaining high software quality assurance standards.

 

Primary Functions of the Sr. DevOps Engineer Include:

  • Dive into existing architecture and code to develop a deep understanding of bottlenecks, tipping points, and which metrics matter. You will be the subject matter expert (SME) for the performance characteristics of our cloud products, and will be called in to consult on issues with development teams, customers, and product managers.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to ensure that solutions meet high standards for security and leverage appropriate technologies for performance and automation
  • Drive continuous software delivery, resolve incidents run incident post-mortems, provide feedback on engineering architecture decisions, and automate repetitive operational tasks.
  • Design, develop, and maintain software solutions that address specific operational, compliance, and pipeline issues.
  • Design foundational, scalable and durable infrastructure on AWS to support our long-term growth.
  • Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins or AWS CodeBuild/CodePipeline
  • Collaborate with development teams to deploy microservices architecture effectively.
  • Participate in helping to build and maintain a culture of engineering best practices.
  • Monitor and optimize application performance using cloud monitoring tools like ELK or Splunk.
  • Ensure system reliability and uptime through proactive monitoring and incident response.
  • Conduct regular software quality assurance assessments to maintain high coding standards.
  • Debug complex production issues across services and product and at all levels of the application stack
  • Mentor junior engineers in best practices for DevOps methodologies.
  • Be an active participant an agile scrum team, follow the agile methodologies and participate in the agile ceremonies
  • Collaborate with SMEs and technology leads to understand the need for new solutions being developed.
  • Communicate core DevOps concepts to a non-technical audience.
  • Regularly bridge the gap between this team and other teams as the champion of cross-team collaboration for the sake of a best-in-class customer experience.
  • Perform other related responsibilities as assigned.

 

How You Qualify

  • Bachelor’s degree in a software related technology or at least 4 years of DevOps, IT, and/or SWE experience
  • 4+ years of experience in DevOps or a related field, with a strong background in software development, automation, and infrastructure management
  • AWS certification and/or at least 4 years of AWS experience
  • Hands-on knowledge of the AWS services we use such as Lambda (specifically python), SQS, SNS, S3, RDS (Postgres), IAM, etc.
  • Strong understanding of the SDLC lifecycle
  • Strong knowledge of AWS and DevOps pipelines
  • Experience with containers and related AWS services such as ECS or Fargate. Kubernetes experience is a plus!
  • A strong understanding of code and script (Specifically, Bash and Python as well as Javascript/NodeJS) with demonstrated professional experience working in at least 1 main language
  • Familiarity with deployment strategies like blue-green, rolling deploys, canary deploys, and best practices around deployment automation
  • Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code technologies such as Terraform and Cloudformation
  • Strong experience with Configuration as Code technologies such as Ansible (preferred), Chef or Puppet
  • Familiarity with SecOps and Compliance processes is desired
  • Extensive experience compiling and deploying applications with custom built software or packaged applications
  • Strong experience working with microservices architectures and cloud environments.
  • Knowledge of version control systems, such as git, with experience in cloud based version control systems such as AWS CodeCommit, Github, or Azure DevOps.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex systems effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with various teams across the organization.
  • Must be team oriented, collaborative, and self-motivated
  • A strong track record of problem solving and a “roll up your sleeves” mentality

 

The base pay range for this role is $115,800.00 - $136,000.00. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Honest. Eligible roles also qualify for short-term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package.
