Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will act as the Cyber Security Engineer lead from the contractor side supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Information Technology (OIT) Transformation Support Services (TSS). The candidate requires strong ISO skills and hands-on experience in a government environment to support and maintain an ISO posture that is compliant with all VA and broader U.S. Government security policies regarding the baseline of equipment (networks, devices, systems) in use by VA. Ideally, this candidate will interface with counterparts on the client side at VA to calibrate information security posture. Support will include scanning, detection, logging and remediation of all equipment baselines in scope to the proper level to meeting Information Security Office requirements. The candidate will have knowledge and background in leading Continuous Readiness in Information Security Program (CRISP) in a highly decentralized enterprise environment like VA or similar size organizations. The candidate will be expected to mature customer relationships within the ISO and coordinated with the Enterprise Security Operations (ESO). This candidate will work closely with multiple VA Information Security Office stakeholders to maintain an optimum operational status across the VA enterprise.
This candidate will lead a team of highly focused IT staff to support CRISP across networks, devices and systems. The candidate will perform forensic analysis of digital information and gathers and handles evidence to identify network computer intrusion evidence and areas of weakness. The candidate will mentor and guide a staff of IT security specialists. Core capabilities include leading a team to define program risks and mitigation, establish baselines, perform continuous cyber security reviews and remediation.
