We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Communications Specialist! The Senior Communications Specialist will play a pivotal role in supporting our external communications activities and enhancing our firm's reputation and visibility. This person will collaborate closely with the External Communications team. This role will manage Wealth Enhancement’s corporate social media channels, coordinate content for owned media channels, pursue proprietary data through external surveys, and provide support for crisis communications and corporate-driven communications. Superior communication, attention to detail, organizational, and follow-through abilities are required.  

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the budgeted salary range for this position is $85,000 - $105,000, exclusive of bonuses and benefits. Primary Job Functions

Social Media Management (LinkedIn, Facebook, X, Instagram) 

  • Manage the firm’s social media calendar and planning process 

  • Maximize the visibility of awards, media appearances, community involvement, and firm-generated content through owned social media channels 

  • Provide advice to advisors to grow their social followings and increase engagement 

  • Assist incoming firms with social media transition 

  • Collaborate with internal departments to create compelling campaigns 

  • Curate sample social media content for advisors and teams to share 

  • Ensure social media guidance on firm’s intranet remains up to date 

  • Monitor metrics to gain insights on best-performing content 

  • Research best practices and identify methods to increase engagement and grow our following across platforms 

Owned Media Channels (Radio Show, TV Segment & Newspaper Column) 

  • Coordinate talent and guest-talent’s calendars to ensure scheduling requirements are met 

  • Collaborate with writer to create quarterly content calendars aligned with quarterly themes 

  • Partner with radio station to ensure smooth production of the “Your Money” radio show and address issues if needed 

  • Route listener questions and inquiries to New Client Team for follow-up 

  • Monitor engagement with owned media content and continually optimize to improve effectiveness 

  • Maximize visibility of owned media through website and organic social media channels 

  • Identify relevant CTAs to support firm priorities and encourage engagement  

Data Generation and Thought Leadership: 

  • Identify key topics and trends relevant to our industry to develop targeted surveys.  

  • Pursue and manage external surveys to generate proprietary data 

  • Analyze survey results and develop insights to be used cross departmentally 

  • Utilize survey data to create engaging content, such as whitepapers, blog posts, infographics, and presentations, that highlight Wealth Enhancement’s expertise and thought leadership. 

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to integrate survey findings into broader marketing campaigns and strategies. 

Crisis Communications and Special Situations Support: 

  • Act as a key point of contact during special or crisis situations, providing timely and accurate information to stakeholders, obtaining approvals, and more 

  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging and effective communication during special situations 

  • Develop relevant communications to support crises or special situations 

Client and Advisor Communications Review: 

  • Support our communications review processes by reviewing, edit, and approve communications to clients and advisors to ensure clarity, accuracy, and alignment with the firm’s brand and messaging guidelines 

  • Provide feedback and recommendations to improve the effectiveness of client and advisor communications 

  • Route communications through Wealth Enhancement’s formal communications review process to obtain required approvals 

Education/Qualifications

  • College degree required.  English, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or Communications preferred. 

  • 3+ years’ experience in Social Media Management, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or Communications required. 

  • Strong writing and oral communication skills, including writing key messages that conform to prescribed style and format guidelines. 

  • Exceptional follow-up and follow-through is required.  

  • Prior social media management experience is required.  

  • Experience editing short-form and long-form content required 

  • Experience in financial services industry and knowledge of wealth management services is preferred. 

  • Writing samples required: Press releases, long-form articles, website copy, collateral copy, social media copy, etc. 

  • Must be willing to collaborate on content creation and welcome constructive feedback. 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows and Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint. 

  • Experience making a business case for a new strategy, approach, or recommendation preferred. 

  • Must be self-motivated, independent, well-organized, and able to work with a minimum amount of supervision.  

WEG hires employees and makes decisions about their salary qualifications based on factors such as: the role to be performed; educational and professional experience, qualifications, skills and credentials; tenure, cost-of-living and demand for the role in the applicable market. Thus, the entire salary range for those who are classified as the Individual Contributor level is $81,100 to $125,300.
