What’s unique about this role?

As a Database Administrator, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, performance, integrity, and security of our SQL databases. You will also be involved in the planning and development of the database systems, as well as troubleshooting any issues that may arise.

The SQL Database Administrator manages multiple on-premise SQL instances and is a key contributor to expanding into new geolocations on-premise and in the Azure cloud. As Lighthouse continues to elevate the service level objectives for all environments, this SQL Database Administrator will be implementing changes to improve performance, enhance monitoring, strengthen security, and maintain stability. 

SQL Database Administrator will also be key in troubleshooting high-impact production incidents and issues escalated by the Application Support and Relativity Infrastructure teams.

This SQL Database Administrator should have extensive experience in troubleshooting database issues, working with multiple technology and engineering teams, and have a deep knowledge of IT infrastructure. 

As Lighthouse utilizes more resources within Azure, the SQL Database Administrator will be given opportunities to expand their knowledge in Azure native services, Terraform, and other cloud computing tools and practices.

What will this person do?

  • Serve as SME (subject matter expert) for Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Provide guidance and support for database engineering of large-scale systems, major system elements, and interfacing systems that are part of a large complex network environment with geographically distributed components. 
  • Manage and administer computer databases in a distributed, highly complex enterprise environment. 
  • Plan and implement software installations, upgrades, and patches.
  • Perform DB migrations.
  • Monitor database performance to ensure integrity of data and provide tuning of the database for optimal performance.
  • Identify need for hardware / software upgrades or replacements.
  • Document and implement HA & DR plans.
  • Projects short term & long-term requirements for Database Administration and design in conjunction with other teams’ requirements.
  • Develop BI reports required for DB monitoring & reporting purposes.
  • Takes the initiative to resolve problems and ensures all eDiscovery system(s) are running well with respect to the database.
  • Troubleshoot Production issues, identify the root cause, come up with recommendations & solutions for identified root cause.
  • Administer SQL DBs on Azure
  • Develop SQL scripts for the automation of DBA tasks.

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or a related field with at least 6+ years of related experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of professional experience as SQL Database Administrator.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in developing database architectures.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience administering DBs on Azure.
  • Experience with performance tuning and monitoring tools such as Spotlight.
  • Experience in supporting development efforts in all phases of the development life cycle.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic team environment and possess time management skills to meet schedules.
  • Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on company’s success.

  • Good time-management skills.
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Azure Database Administrator Associate certification is a plus.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Duties are performed in a typical office environment while at a desk or computer table.  Duties require the ability to use a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material, in a quiet and professional setting.
  • Duties may require occasionally working outside normal business hours (evenings and weekends).

As required by applicable pay transparency laws, Lighthouse complies with compensation disclosure requirements for roles that may be hired in locations under these requirements. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include a wide array of factors, including: your specific skills and experience, geographic location, or other relevant factors. The salary range for this position may be tailored to be lower or higher in different talent markets.

 The expected pay for this role will range from $86,620 to $115,500 per year.  This role will be eligible to participate in an annual bonus or incentive program.
