Position Overview

The Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) with Stellar Virtual is a professional who works under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide support in the assessment and treatment of individuals with communication disorders. The SLPA will play a crucial role in supporting our virtual school programs by assisting Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs) in implementing speech and language interventions and conducting assessments.


Essential Position Functions

  • Collaborate with Speech Language Pathologists to implement individual and group therapy sessions, focusing on improving communication skills in virtual settings.

  • Assist in conducting assessments to identify communication disorders, gather relevant data, and contribute to the development of individualized treatment plans.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, treatment plans, and communication with parents and other team members. Generate reports as needed.

  • Work closely with teachers, parents, and other educational professionals to integrate speech and language goals into the overall academic plan for each student.

  • Stay current with research and best practices in the field of speech-language pathology. Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.

  • Utilize virtual learning platforms and tools effectively to deliver speech and language services in an online environment.

  • In the context of virtual or online settings, SLPAs will utilize technology and virtual platforms to deliver services to students effectively.

  • Other duties and responsibilities of SLPAs may vary based on state regulations, as the scope of practice for SLPAs is typically defined by each state's licensing board.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Previous experience working as an SLPA in a school setting or with virtual learning programs is preferred.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with students, parents, and educational staff.

  • Familiarity with virtual learning platforms and the ability to adapt to new technologies is essential.

  • Ability to collaborate with a diverse team of educators and professionals to support the overall success of students.

  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for the potential of virtual learning to enhance educational experiences.


Education & Certification Requirements

  • Possess a valid Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) certification in the state of Texas.

  • Bachelor's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or a related field from an accredited institution.
