Job Description

The Specialty Operations Senior Consultant is responsible for the effective resolution and settlement of asbestos, environmental, and latent injury insurance and reinsurance claims, including asbestos bodily injury, pharmaceutical, environmental, and other mass tort exposures within Specialty Operation's claims and reinsurance claims department.

Key Responsibilities

  • With minimal guidance, understands and applies relevant clauses of CGL, umbrella and excess policies or reinsurance contracts, underlying claim facts and case law to assess coverage of direct or reinsurance claims.
  • With minimal guidance, handles and adjusts asbestos, environmental, and other latent injury claims with the goal of resolving and controlling exposure from such claims; includes analyzing contractual obligations, liability and damages.
  • Stays current on industry legal trends and significant case law and applies such knowledge to claims handling responsibilities
  • Routinely and effectively handles caseloads including establishing and maintaining thoroughly documented claim files, adherence to timetables and reporting to management.
  • Makes recommendations and establishes actions plans for disposition of reported claims.
  • Establishes appropriate case reserves based on assessment of claim and within applicable assigned authority level or excess of authority level with management approval; analyzes and makes financial projections
  • Acts as a witness or corporate representative in litigation, arbitration and other legal disputes as needed.

Education

  • 4 year Bachelors Degree (Preferred)

Experience

  • 3 or more years of experience (Preferred)

Compensation

Compensation offered for this role is $74,240.00 - 134,060.00 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.
