Position Overview
The Dyslexia Support Teacher for Special Education is responsible for supporting the dyslexia coordinator, dyslexia specialist, and campus staff in their efforts to prepare students for Academic Success within the virtual classroom for all Texas-based online courses.
Essential Position Functions
- One Number: 100% Compliance
- Support the dyslexia specialist in providing services and communication to families.
- Collaborate with staff and parents to discuss students who are experiencing difficulties in the classroom and recommend an intervention plan for students in need of dyslexia services.
- Participate in 504 and ARD meetings for students with dyslexia, providing progress and insight.
- Facilitate the dyslexia intervention program and analyze student progress.
- Prepare and maintain students’ records and reports.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment as determined by the needs of the assigned students with dyslexia.
- Analyze assessment data and make recommendations for improvement based on results. 8. Participate in the annual review of students with dyslexia and other related learning difficulties with school personnel and parents to review progress.
- Participate in the MTSS meetings and process, providing student and staff support as well as communication with families.
- Create an environment conducive to student learning.
- Maintain a professional working relationship with principals, colleagues, students, and supervisors.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly. 13. Develop and maintain professional competence through professional growth activities based on recent research and current trends in education.
- Additional student or faculty support as directed by the Instructional Supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
- In-depth understanding of dyslexia, intervention strategies, and related learning difficulties.
- Familiarity with Section 504 plans, ARD processes, and legal requirements.
- Skilled in using assessment tools and analyzing data to monitor and improve student progress.
- Ability to create and implement tailored instructional strategies for students with dyslexia.
- Effective in working with staff, parents, and stakeholders.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Aptitude for developing effective intervention plans.
- Highly organized in managing responsibilities and documentation.
- Competence with educational technology for assessment, instruction, and record-keeping.
- Flexible in adapting methods to meet individual student needs.
- Ability to lead programs and facilitate meetings effectively.
- Attention to detail in data analysis and reporting.

Education & Certification Requirements
- Valid Texas teacher certification in the area of Reading
- Special education certification EC-12
- A minimum of 2 years experience delivering dyslexia interventions
- A minimum of 2 years teaching experience.
