The Emerging Talent Recruiting & Programs team at OpenAI works cross-functionally to develop and manage emerging talent programs that showcase our mission and unique employment brand to participants with the goal of converting them to permanent roles in the company.
About the role
As a Sourcer, you’ll have the opportunity to drive top of funnel activity and build meaningful candidate relationships in order to support our emerging talent initiatives.
You’ll work on a wide range of highly specialized roles and drive all stages of the top-end interview process and elsewhere when necessary. You’ll support hiring manager relationships, identify and engage leading experts in their respective fields, and partner with our recruiters and technical leaders to scale and optimize our teams. We’re looking for people who are passionate about creating meaningful interactions through our programs, who can balance multiple priorities seamlessly, and who thrive in collaborative, fast-paced environments.
In this role, you will:
Act as the primary touchpoint for candidates from initial outreach until the onsite interview stage, ensuring an exceptional candidate experience throughout.
Build highly targeted searches that deliver candidate profiles with precision.
Create and operate sourcing strategies to attract diverse talent to OpenAI.
Craft thoughtful approaches to candidate outreach that will engage even the most passive talent and cultivate relationships with high priority targets over the long-term.
Utilize non-traditional and creative strategies to discover undervalued talent.
Partner with hiring managers across OpenAI to develop customized sourcing strategies for them.
Take a highly organized and data driven approach to candidate tracking and funnel metrics.
Represent OpenAI and engage with candidates at conferences and events.
Develop creative and engaging opportunities for targeted talent to experience OpenAI culture and technical brand via innovative events.
Our ideal candidates will have:
5+ years of experience identifying/sourcing Engineering and AI talent across a range of specializations.
Demonstrable success in hiring top technical talent at a premier tech company and/or high-growth startup
Track record of delivering healthy candidate volume across a wide variety of roles. simultaneously while maintaining a high degree of responsiveness and care to each stakeholder and candidate in process.
A passion for the research and mapping components of Sourcing; it’s a long game.

Location and Workplace
This role is based either in our San Francisco office or remote in the US. There is an expectation that you will be in our San Francisco, CA offices monthly and potentially more during peak hiring and events seasons. Additional domestic and international travel may be required.
Our open-plan offices have height-adjustable desks, conference rooms, phone booths, well-stocked kitchens full of snacks and drinks, three in-house prepared meals daily, a private outdoor space for working in the sun or socializing, nap rooms, private bike storage, and more.
