What you will do!

The person in this Solutions Architect position supports projects for the REALD/SOGI implementation efforts by developing and proposing potential solutions to meet business requirements. The position will lead research on possible solutions, make recommendations based on findings, develops proposals that outline feasibility and costs; suggests, designs, tests, implements, and evaluates solutions. The person in this position is responsible for supporting the successful implementation of technology solutions through collaboration with other team members, IT staff and business partners. The solutions architect will collaborate with business units to develop IT strategies and to improve current IT implementations for the projects.

The project activities can be technical in nature such as, large-scale hardware cloud system implementations; off-premise system upgrades; software enhancements that may be developed internally or by a vendor; data migrations; development of new data access methods; change control management; and system performance improvements.

What we are looking for:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
 

(a) Seven (7) years of information systems experience in: Data Architecture, Conceptual Database Design, Data Modeling, Database Administration, Data Analysis, Data Integration, and/or information technology development.

(b) An Associate's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field; AND 5 years of information systems experience in: Data Architecture, Conceptual Database Design, Data Modeling, Database Administration, Data Analysis, Data Integration, and/or information technology development.

(c) A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field AND three (3) years of information systems experience in: Data Architecture, Conceptual Database Design, Data Modeling, Database Administration, Data Analysis, Data Integration, and/or information technology development.

(d) Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field AND one (1) year of information systems experience in: Data Architecture, Conceptual Database Design, Data Modeling, Database Administration, Data Analysis, Data Integration, and/or information technology development.

  

Working Conditions

This position involves frequent contact with executives, management, and staff both internal and external to the organization. It requires working with a variety of people and situations, which requires the incumbent to exercise diplomacy.  Confidentiality of information must be maintained at all times. This position requires the ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously, sometimes within short time frames, and interface effectively with business partners. It requires maintenance of tight deadlines and close coordination of a large number of tasks. Often travel to meetings is required with some travel to trainings. There can be frequent interruptions, demanding timeframes, and non-traditional working hours.  Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to meet the needs of the project. The location of this position is in an office, cubicle and/or an agreed upon remote work environment with significant use of a computer and video conferencing.

Staff working remote shall:

• Be available each week during traditional business hours, as determined by the business need.

There may be times that a position or an individual must be located full-time, on-site, within traditional business hours.  Times when on-site presence can be required include but are not limited to training, performance, business alignment, accommodations, or resource availability. To be eligible for remote work, staff must have a home workspace that meets all applicable technology, security and safety requirements including the ability to provide protection of confidential information.

Desired Attributes:

Experience managing and deploying applications, infrastructure, and services within the Microsoft Azure platform, including skills in areas like storage, databases, security, and automation tools within the Azure ecosystem.

Expertise developing and analyzing software requirements from business needs, including functional and non-functional requirements, and converting those in conceptual and detailed designs.

Leads the development of business use cases, user stories or other agile software development requirements gathering and documentation methodologies.

Excellent communication and consultation skills with clients and internal stakeholders to develop appropriate solutions.

Work with business units to identify opportunities for process improvements, develop IT strategies and to improve current IT implementations.

Advanced knowledge of infrastructure specialties and the interrelationship of information management systems.

Demonstrated experience with application development, data modeling and meeting business requirements.

Utilization of project administration methods, principles, techniques and practices.

Up to date awareness of IT trends, technological changes and developments.

Knowledge of theories, principles and practices of Information Systems Technology, including information systems architecture.

Experience with applications written in object-oriented, structured and event-driven programming paradigms.

Able to take high level, customer driven ideas and turn them into actionable software requirements. 

Demonstrates experience using modern source control systems, testing practices, code and design review tools and processes, and describe at least one application development life cycle.

Excellent team skills demonstrated by demonstrating the following traits; reliability, constructive communication, active listening, active participation, willing and open sharing, cooperation, flexibility, commitment to the team, problem-solver, treats others in a respectful and supportive manner, and shows a commitment to continually learn.

Ability to work with little to no guidance when performing complex development functions, establishing personal work priorities, resolving simple issues and knowing unit’s technical standards, principles, theories and techniques.
