Solution Architect – Transportation Management Systems (TMS) / Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)

The Solution Architect for Transportation Management Systems (TMS) / Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) will be responsible for defining and overseeing the architecture and design of TMS/ERP solutions that meet both business and technical requirements. The primary focus will be on optimizing and implementing TMS/ERP to support end-to-end logistics processes, improving routing and scheduling, reducing transportation costs, and enabling real-time data insights. This individual will collaborate closely with internal teams and clients to create scalable and high-performing transportation solutions that align with The Evans Network of Companies (ENOC) digital strategy and future state.
Essential Job Duties
- Design and implement end-to-end architecture for Transportation Management Systems (TMS) / Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) that align with the company’s goals and objectives
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements, identify integration points, and create architecture frameworks that support multi-modal transportation, load planning, routing, scheduling, corporate accounting, risk management, compliance, and financial reporting
- Define and document system architecture, components, interfaces, and data flows
- Provide technical leadership during the design and implementation phases of TMS/ERP projects, ensuring adherence to best practices, standards, and security guidelines
- Serve as a subject matter expert for TMS/ERP, staying updated on industry trends and emerging technologies that could enhance system functionality and performance
- Develop and implement integration strategies with ERP, WMS, and other enterprise systems to ensure seamless data flow across the supply chain
- Partner with technology vendors to oversee the customization and configuration of TMS/ERP to align with business processes, including carrier selection, rate management, freight billing, and KPI reporting
- Work with business analysts, product owners, developers, and QA teams to define and validate TMS/ERP solutions, providing expertise on functional requirements and solution feasibility
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to present solutions, address technical challenges, and provide ongoing support
- Identify and address system bottlenecks, performance issues, and security risks within the TMS/ERP landscape
- Continuously evaluate and recommend improvements in the TMS/ERP architecture to increase efficiency, enhance scalability, and support cost-effective operations
- Continuously evaluate emerging integration technologies and practices, recommending improvements that drive innovation and enhance the organization’s digital capabilities
- Develop technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, integration patterns, and deployment strategies
- Provide training and support to internal teams and end-users on TMS/ERP features, configurations, and best practices
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in solution architecture with a focus on Transportation Management Systems (TMS), logistics, or supply chain technologies
- Knowledge of TMS platforms such as McLeod, MasterMind, Oracle OTM, SAP TM, Manhattan TMS, Blue Yonder, or similar
- Knowledge of ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar
- Proficiency in system integration, including RESTful APIs, EDI, XML, JSON, and data transformation tools
- Experience in cloud-based solutions (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and modern architecture practices (microservices, SOA)
- Strong understanding of transportation/logistics/ERP processes, including carrier management, route optimization, freight auditing, and KPI reporting
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with a focus on creating scalable, reliable, and secure solutions
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in Solution Architecture, TMS/ERP platforms, or Cloud Computing (e.g., TOGAF, AWS Certified Solutions Architect)
- Experience with analytics and reporting tools to track TMS/ERP performance and ROI
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices
