Solution Architect II
Remote, USA
Supports an assigned portfolio through architecting and designing comprehensive solutions to meet product needs. Works collaboratively with domain leadership to create solutions that align to architecture standards and principles, leveraging common solutions and services while meeting financial targets.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide consultation on the design, building, testing and deployment of technology solutions and designs for the domain.
- Collaborate with domain leadership and enterprise architects to understand business drivers, business capabilities (future and current state), and determine corresponding solution designs.
- Enable domain leadership to make business decisions by working with domain subject matter experts to evaluate technology solutions, articulating the value and tradeoffs of each option.
- Participate in the creation of enterprise architecture standards and evaluate the quality and compliance of delivered solutions to ensure alignment with those standards.
- Collaborate with stakeholders on initiatives and participate in cross-team Agile ceremonies.
- Produce, enhance, and refine conceptual, logical, and physical solution architecture for strategic initiatives that align with Enterprise Architecture principles and vision.
- Apply cybersecurity, technology, and risk principles and standards to ensure proposed solutions are compliant.
- Research and identify the potential impact of existing, new, and emerging domain technologies and trends; publish findings internally for use by technology team members to leverage in future projects.
- Align governance activities to the Bank’s architecture standards and escalate to the appropriate stakeholders as needed.
- Objectively evaluate and solve domain specific architecture problems in partnership with domain SMEs.
- Collectively solve problems in collaboration with enterprise and solutions architects for dependent products.
- Mentor less experienced architects and act as the point person for cross-project technical issues and resolution.
- Harness existing technology resources through collaboration to benefit solutioning efforts.
- Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

- Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of relevant work experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 11 year's higher education and/or relevant work experience
Experience in software or service engineering and delivery
Experience in the practical application of existing, new, and emerging technologies for strategic use
Experience in researching, evaluating and articulating multiple approaches to solving technical problems
Experience as a software practitioner, developing software and applications
Experience with a minimum of two programming languages
Experience in designing, developing and integrating applications with relevant software architecture principles
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:
Graduate degree in a technical discipline
Experience working in a lead capacity related to banking technical design
Experience working in an Agile environment
Industry recognized certification in programming languages and/or cloud technologies
Experience working in the financial services industry
M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $130,795.52 - $217,992.53 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
