A DAY IN THE LIFE:
This role oversees software engineering maintenance for Tandem’s mobile and pump products, leading initiatives to streamline processes and elevate quality across the software development teams. This leadership position will be responsible for creating meaningful changes at a departmental level with a broad impact by increasing efficiency and enhancing overall product quality.
- Leads software investigations and development projects across multiple teams, providing direction to ensure effective and timely resolution of software issues.
- Operates with agency to achieve software maintenance goals.
- Drives quality initiatives that enable efficient processes and enhance product performance.
- Defines processes for identifying, triaging, documenting, and resolving software defects and issues reported post-market, including corrective and preventative actions (CAPA).
- Identifies and sets priorities based on risk assessments and/or overall impact on product quality.
- Develops metrics for tracking process performance and product quality.
- Provides updates to management and other stakeholders on the status of maintenance activities and the resolution of post-market issues.
- Participates in risk assessments and uses outcomes to prioritize assignments.
- Works cross-functionally with developers, QA engineers, and Customer facing groups on understanding root causes, providing suggestions for traceability and failure analytics, and advising on troubleshooting.
- Provides mentorship to team members on Six Sigma principles and use of statistical tools for root cause analysis (Fishbone diagrams, 5 Whys).
- Ensures compliance with company policies, including Privacy/HIPAA, and other legal and regulatory requirements.
YOU’RE AWESOME AT:
- Strong vision and strategy for maintenance process development.
- Able to influence and drive change when implementing new procedures or product improvements.
- Demonstrated ability to lead development teams, manage cooperative work efforts between teams, and delegate with success.
- Experienced in applying statistical tools for data analysis and problem solving.
- Able to scope, estimate time needed, collaborate with stakeholders, and track development projects.
- Able to advise and support engineering teams in root cause analysis.
- Experienced in software development life cycle for regulated devices, including CAPA.
- Knowledge of Good Documentation Practices (GDP) preferred.
EXTRA AWESOME:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer sciences or related field or equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience.
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent experience in Lean or DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) methodologies.
- 8 years’ experience in software maintenance or quality engineering in a regulated market, preferably medical device industry.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
The starting base pay range for this position is $160,000 - $180,000 annually. Base pay will vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and may also fluctuate depending on candidate’s location and the overall job market. In addition to base pay, Tandem offers a competitive compensation package that includes bonus, equity, and a robust benefits package.
Tandem offers health care benefits such as medical, dental, vision, health savings accounts and flexible saving accounts.
