Job Description:

Parsons is looking for a sharp and talented Software Engineer to join our growing team! In this fully remote you will get to support development of an exciting new space and ground capability for the United States Space Force.

This is a 12-month surge position with the potential for continued employment with Parsons.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Support the development and integration of the MEO Track Custody ground environment
  • Support MTC ground segment systems engineering to include requirements derivation, mapping to architecture, and detail design
  • Provide program support to include, but not limited to inputs for Program documentation in support of a Major Transition Acquisition [ex. System Engineering Plan (SEP), Test Engineering Management Plan (TEMP), Program Protection Plan (PPP)].
  • Coordinate with contractors and the Program Office (PO) for the design and the integration of MTC Ground capabilities into the TAP Lab. Those capabilities include user/operator workspaces and collaboration areas, data center resources and space, network and communications, cybersecurity, shared infrastructure services, and standard operating procedures and tenant support activities.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering or a related technical field
  • 4+ years of related experience
  • Software Engineering/Development experience including a deep knowledge of programming languages such as Python (preferred), Java, and/or C/C++
  • Working experience in Windows and Linux environments
  • Experience developing containerized software and developing multiple containerized applications that interface together – Kubernetes, Docker, PodMan, Docker Compose, OpenShift
  • Experience with Pub/Sub architecture or Message Queueing that leveraged technologies such as Apache Kafka or ActiveMQ
  • Strong track record with integrating with third-party applications and APIs, with experience in Elastic Stack being highly desirable
  • Cybersecurity scanning, STIGs, HW/SW requirements, and verification methods
  • Experience in requirements derivation
  • Demonstrated ability to develop CONOPS and use-cases
  • Demonstrated experience in the development of High-Level Designs


What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • Active Secret clearance with ability to obtain an SCI clearance.
  • Messaging standards for government entities, like Overhead Persistent GEOINT Architecture (OPGA) and C2MS
  • Ability to understand and further define system architectures
  • Ability to support special studies relevant to ground systems for spaceborne assets
  • Knowledge of Overhead Persistent InfraRed (OPIR) systems, architecture, and operations
  • Knowledge of and experience with US Space Force (USSF) Space Operations
  • Knowledge of and experience with US Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC)

Salary Range: 

$96,400.00 - $168,700.00
