OverviewThe Software Engineer will play a crucial role in advancing the CDC Foundation's mission by developing and maintaining software applications for a public health association that specifically serves local, tribal and territorial populations. This role is aligned to the Workforce Acceleration Initiative (WAI). WAI is a federally funded CDC Foundation program with the goal of helping the nation’s public health agencies by providing them with the technology and data experts they need to accelerate their information system improvements. Working within Hamilton County General Health District, the Software Engineer will support the public health information technology team with updating systems to a modern architecture. This person will have strong programming skills, a solid understanding of software development principles, and the ability to work collaboratively with a cross-functional team to deliver innovative solutions that improve public health. Ideal candidates should be equally comfortable solving technical problems by writing code, explaining technical design architecture to technical and non-technical individuals while also leading organizational strategy and change. The Software Engineer will join a small but collaborative and dynamic team working to modernize public health in the southwest region of Ohio, directly impacting public health professionals’ ability to understand morbidity and mortality in Hamilton County and identify connections between social/environmental factors and human health to better serve the community.
