We’re seeking a Software Engineer II, Frontend to build intuitive, visually engaging, and robust user interfaces that bridge the gap between complex technical solutions and real-world challenges. In this role, you’ll work hands-on with cross-functional teams to develop our platform, integrating advanced and AI-driven features that enable rapid, data-driven decision-making in emergency situations. You'll collaborate closely with our teams to help ensure our interfaces are scalable, high-performing, and accessible while contributing to technical discussions and best practices.

What you’ll do:
- Build new and innovative features for RapidSOS UNITE—a React-based application that handles an average of 400,000 emergency calls daily
- Engineer dynamic, responsive user interfaces for public safety systems that integrate aesthetics with intuitive, user-centric interactions'Collaborate closely with Product Designers to deliver exceptional user experiences while ensuring technical feasibility of UI/UX designs
- Work within the Engineering team to assess and enhance current applications, including refactoring code and upgrading technologies used
- Collaborate in an agile environment with stakeholders across Engineering, Public Safety, Design, and Product to develop frontend solutions for RapidSOS products
- Actively participate in code reviews and standups, sharing knowledge, and contributing to the continuous improvement of team processes
- Own meaningful parts of our platform, have an impact, grow with the company
What we’re looking for in our ideal candidate:
- 3+ years of professional engineering experience with 2+ years of developing rich, interactive, scalable frontend applications with React/Redux
- Experience with modern CSS frameworks and libraries such as Styled Components
- Experience integrating with RESTful APIs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; is a team player with a positive attitude
- Highly self-motivated; ability to adapt and learn quickly in a fast-paced environment with a strong sense of ownership
- Cares deeply about the user experience and is able to quickly identify the optimal visual strategies to meet both product and design goals
- Proficiency in coding best practices – ability to write clean, maintainable, and testable code
- Proficiency in problem solving – troubleshooting issues and debugging a large codebase
- Ability and willingness to collaborate in-person quarterly, or as needed
Nice-to-have experience (but not required!):
- Experience integrating with WebSocket APIs for real-time data streaming
- Experience working with a Map UI provider such as Google Maps or ESRI
- Familiarity with TypeScript
- Experience with a JavaScript testing tool (We use Jest, Playwrite, and React testing library at RapidSOS but any testing library experience would be helpful!)
- Understanding of JavaScript security best practices
- Familiarity with design handoff tools like Figma

Starting pay for a successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include experience, relevant skills, training, education, location, business needs, or market demands. The salary range for this role is $125,000 - $145,000. This role will also be eligible to receive equity options. #LI-Remote
