Software Engineer I

We are looking for a Software Engineer who is passionate about building distributed systems that can scale and perform to meet growing customer needs.
As a Software Engineer I at DigitalOcean, you will join a dynamic team dedicated to revolutionizing cloud computing. The Storage Team supports the operations and development of block volumes, backups and image management. The ultimate goal of the Droplet Storage Team is to create a cohesive singular interface to hypervisor storage where storage class placement decisions are transparent to the hypervisor client and take advantage of the full range of available block storage classes to best satisfy customer needs.What You’ll Do:
- Supporting the creation and operations of distributed systems
- Programming in Go and other languages
- Collaborating with a motivated team of peers
- Consuming from and contributing to free/open source software communities
- Solving interesting problems in a technically rewarding environment
What You’ll Add to DigitalOcean:
- Minimum 2 years experience programming in Go.
- Minimum 4 years of software engineering experience.
- Experience working with complex, distributed systems.
- Experience working within a microservice architecture, with knowledge of both asynchronous, event-driven processing, and synchronous gRPC/HTTP-based requests.
- Experience developing high-availability, highly-scalable APIs that have been used by thousands of users or more.
- A passion for shipping well-engineered and well-tested code.
- Strong analytical, communications, and organizational skills.
- Experience in agile software development methodologies.
- CI/CD experience with a focus on quality and developer velocity

- We reward our employees. The salary range for this position is between $70,600 - $88,000 based on market data, relevant years of experience, and skills. You may qualify for a bonus in addition to base salary; bonus amounts are determined based on company and individual performance. We also provide equity compensation to eligible employees, including equity grants upon hire and the option to participate in our Employee Stock Purchase Program.
