Software Engineer, Cloud - US / CANADA - REMOTE

About the Role: 

We are continuing to invest and grow our Cloud Engineering team at Redpanda. We are looking for a Software Engineer who will accelerate our connections between Redpanda and other data systems. They are  up for the challenge to not only build the systems, but to lift Redpanda into the Azure cloud and also shape the technical culture that creates these systems. You Will: 

  • Provide expertise and hands on experience working with Kafka Connect and the connectors ecosystem
  • Adopt, enhance, and customize community connectors, and write new ones where needed
  • Automate the infrastructure lifecycle of Kafka Connect clusters, connectors, and tasks on Kubernetes
  • Make resilience and observability integral to our systems, enabling us to run a managed, cloud-based streaming-as-a-service with > 99.9% uptime
  • Build tools & services to allow automated infrastructure provisioning and self-healing, including deployments and upgrades
  • Ensure the success of our customers who use connectors, by providing advice and expertise to our Customer Success and Support teams, and resolving customer-affecting service issues
  • Participate in on-call rotations, working to keep customer workloads running and incident-free
  • Mentor members of the Engineering team

You Have: 

  • 6+ years of experience building SaaS products
  • Solid understanding of Kafka, Kafka Connect, and the connectors ecosystem
  • Strong understanding of Java, and Kubernetes; knowledge of other languages such as Go a plus
  • Expert knowledge of at least one top-tier public cloud, such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
  • Expertise in distributed systems and networking
  • Willingness to participate in on-call rotation
  • Comfort working with 100% distributed engineering team
  • Excellent written communication skills

U.S. base salary range for this role is $185,000 - $218,000 (CA, NY, WA) and  $177,000 - $208,000 (other US locations). Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. As a remote-first company, we strive to consider each candidate's job-related skills, location, experience, relevant education or training to determine individual base salary. Your talent partner will share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
