Moog Medical Devices Group is looking for a Software Design Quality Engineer.

The Moog Medical Devices Group designs, manufactures, and distributes advanced infusion systems that improve medication safety, optimize application performance and reduce medical expenses. Our infusion and enteral products are used in both hospital, at home, and in alternate care sites. Our electronic ambulatory infusion devices are complemented with advanced clinical software management tools, satisfying both clinical and operational requirements.

You will provide design quality engineering support to the design and development group for software development and design changes in support of Moog’s infusion and enteral feeding pumps sold both in the US and internationally.  You will have a critical role in fostering overall quality and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and international standards with respect to quality system, manufacturing, and medical device software.  Reporting to the Director, QA & Regulatory Affairs you will have an on-site or hybrid work schedule in Salt Lake City, Utah.  A remote work schedule may be considered.

As a Software Design Quality Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Review and approval of software development lifecycle artifacts
  • Compliance with FDA Quality System Regulation and international standards related to software, including IEC 62304
  • Supporting global cross-functional development and/or maintenance projects

Core Responsibilities:

  • Review and approve software verification test protocols, both manual and automated (written in Python)
  • Identify compliance gaps and work with Engineering to resolve compliance issues
  • Foster and support a culture of quality throughout the Engineering organization
  • Complete required training in a timely manner
  • Other projects as assigned by management 

As a Software Design Quality Engineer you will need to bring the following: 

  • B.S. degree in Computer Science or a closely related discipline from an accredited university
  • Proficiency in the Python programming language
  • Software test development experience
  • QA or engineering/development experience in a regulated industry
  • Experience in applying software development lifecycle and quality system principles, including Good Documentation Practices
  • Working knowledge of regulatory requirements and international standards such as FDA Quality System Regulation, Medical Device Directive, ISO 13485, ISO 14971, IEC 62304, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to consistently meet high standards of quality
  • Experience in automated testing techniques and tools
  • Good organization and time-management skills, and ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (technical, non-technical, and cross-cultural)
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office tools:  Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Proficiency in one or more C-style programming languages
  • Software Quality Assurance/Engineer/Testing certification

Salary Range Transparency:

Salt Lake City, UT $100,000.00–$175,000.00 Annually

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
