Part timeTo advance the purpose of InterVarsity, the position will serve on the Editorial Team within InterVarsity’s national communications department. As a member of InterVarsity’s national communications department, you’ll join a creative community serving God through communications that amplify InterVarsity’s mission on campus. This mission-focused team pursues professional excellence as it stewards InterVarsity’s brand and strategic messaging priorities.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop communications that promote the ministries of InterVarsity:
- Produce written communications for multiple audiences, for a variety of channels, including websites, blogs, newsletters, marketing campaigns, social media campaigns, ministry resources, and internal and external communications.
- Write and proofread content according to InterVarsity’s editorial style guide and AP style.
- Work collaboratively on communications content as assigned.
- Meet deadlines for projects.
- Keep organized files
- Use project management software (Wrike).
- Plan, write, edit and manage content on InterVarsity websites using Drupal content management system.
- Plan, write, edit and manage content on InterVarsity social media channels, and monitor engagement and effectiveness
- Coordinate projects, schedules and timelines.
- Take into account InterVarsity’s brand, ministry goals and the needs of multiple audiences as you develop communications for multiple departments.
Contribute to the team effort:
- Collaborate with other teams and departments
- Consult with other departments and organizational leaders on goals, messaging, tactics.
- Practice thoughtful and productive inter-personal communication with colleagues
- Receive feedback and critique from colleagues and supervisor as a part of the editorial process.
Maintain professional growth and involvement:
- Stay informed about the culture of college campuses and the chapter activities of InterVarsity
- Visit campus settings periodically
- Attend and serve onsite at InterVarsity conferences and events
- Learn new technologies, platforms and skills.
Maintain sound financial status:
- Raise personal support at the level assigned by supervisor
- Develop and maintain a small group of people who covenant to support your ministry with prayer
- Communicate regularly with donors and ministry partners
QUALIFICATIONS
- Annual affirm InterVarsity’s Statement of Agreement
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Public Relations, English, Communications or Writing.
- Passion for campus ministry, and desire to see students and faculty grow in their relationship with Christ
- Previous relevant experience desired.
- Familiarity with InterVarsity’s ministry.
- Strong writing and proofreading skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to meet deadlines and balance multiple projects.
- Theological acuity and knowledge of Biblical text.
The Editorial team develops the following kinds of communications:
- Stories of student transformation that show the impact of InterVarsity’s ministry
- Copywriting for marketing campaigns
- Blogs and essays
- Press releases
- Email newsletters (for internal and external audiences)
- Event communications
- Video scripts
- Writing on behalf of the president
- Serve senior leadership to prepare communications for strategi
- Collaborate with InterVarsity departments to develop tools for ministry, including internal training and campus ministry resources.
- Marketing campaigns
- Speeches
Pay: This position is funded through personal fundraising. Accordingly, compensation will vary based on the ability of the individual to secure a donor team to fund the cost of his/her salary. The anticipated salary range for this position on a full-time basis (40 hours/week) is dependent on a variety of factors, including location and cost of living. The actual salary received, including any geographic adjustment to account for location and cost of living, is subject to the individual’s ability to raise funds necessary to cover the full amount of such salary within the range set forth in the job posting details.
