This role provides services and support within the Ontario RDC by addressing the shared priorities of the 14 YMCAs in Ontario. It focuses on developing service structures that align and enhance YMCA service delivery across the province. Additionally, this leader supports the RDC in its program and policy relationships and operational needs as defined by the Ontario Work Groups and Communities of Practice within the YMCA Network. The position reports to the RDC SVP and also contributes to the Ontario RDC portfolios of Association Strategy and Government Relations.
In this role, you will:
- Develop and align provincial program needs and strategy with emergent RDC and Federation priorities.
- Coordinate and support Ontario's existing Work Group structure, including Overnight Camping, Childcare, Employment & Settlement, Day Camps, and Health and Wellness.
- Brief CEOs and senior leaders on key issues and events related to program development.
- Collaborate with the GM Association Strategy to support YMCA developmental needs and the Good Governance Project.
- Work with the GM Government Relations to support Ontario government relations and public policy projects.
- Lead and coordinate the annual Ontario RDC CEO Leadership Forums, managing all logistics, planning, agenda development, venue selection, and communication with participants. Facilitate discussions among CEOs, gather feedback, and ensure follow-up on initiatives to improve future forums.
- Evolve and support research and delivery design that aids federation leaders in emergent service streams like Executive Support and Health & Safety.
- Develop annual work plans for Work Groups and other emergent RDC initiatives among YMCAs and leaders.
- Identify areas of priority focus and actively monitor, analyze, and communicate risks and opportunities related to work group program matters at the provincial level.
- Coordinate leadership development and succession for Work Group Chairs.
- Participate in reviews, leadership recruitment, and provide governance support for RDC provincial working groups.
- Support customized YMCA programming and emergent development opportunities.
- Provide service and support to RDC portfolios of Association Strategy and Government Relations.
- Build and maintain relationships with Senior YMCA leaders.
- Serve as a liaison between Ontario CEOs, senior leaders, and Work Group outputs.
- Deliver presentations, training, and facilitate engagement in YMCA Work Groups and Communities of Practice.
- Initiate, attend, and contribute to meetings with YMCA program leaders and representatives.
- Communicate with internal stakeholders across Ontario YMCA, responding to questions and concerns.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
You Bring:
- Post-secondary education in a related discipline or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a federated or membership-based environment, with a preference for experience with Association service delivery and local Association leadership.
- Knowledge and understanding of major YMCA programs and delivery structures is essential.
- Ability to frame complex issues into briefing and communications materials suitable for YMCA audiences.
- Well-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills; ability to establish positive rapport with members, contacts, staff, and volunteers.
- Ability to influence and lead effectively in-person and within virtual environments.
- Ability to work independently and cross-functionally as part of a team.
- Strong initiative, planning, and organizational skills with extreme attention to detail.
- Highly developed ability to practice discretion on confidential matters.
- Tolerance for ambiguity and the ability to adapt well to a wide range of tasks with demanding deadlines.
- Must be able to work collaboratively across all levels of internal and external stakeholders and value consensus as a desired outcome.
- Excellent understanding of diversity, inclusion, and equity, including the ability to identify and address barriers, work effectively with diverse stakeholders, and integrate equity into program design.
