Salary Range:

Senior Business Analyst, Grade 11, exempt, $81,341.82 - $113,878.54 per fiscal year, commensurate with experience.

Principal Business Analyst, Grade 13, exempt, $93,128.25 - $130,379.53 per fiscal year, commensurate with experience.

Job Description Summary:

As a Senior or Principal Business Analyst, you are responsible for solution discovery, thought leadership, and requirements definition for large enterprise-wide initiatives. This position will primarily support the Workday financial functions and the adaptive planning tool for the organization.

Job Description:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Analysis & Requirements

• Lead requirements gathering to formulate business specifications which drive at the core of the business problem to be solved.

• Lead medium and large-scale project activities including requirements gathering and user interface (UI) design from inception through completion.

• Participate in architectural design discussions to ensure system meets business needs.

• Determine feasibility of solutions.

• Establish business analyst standards, procedures, practices, and tools.

• Serve as liaison between business teams and the technology team.

• Partner with team members to analyze, modify, and document business process improvements.

• Maintain understanding of strategic business objectives.

• Guide the technical team in analyzing and translating business requirements.

2. Project Management

• Provide estimates to assist in project planning.

• Perform project management tasks as assigned.

• Responsible for the end-to-end management of small sized projects and is accountable for the project scope, schedule, budget, resources, and overall quality of project delivery.

3. Assist quality assurance team with conducting testing and documenting results, as needed.

4. Document business processes, create training guides, and conduct end user training.

5. Stays informed and educated on changing technologies, frameworks, and business analyst best practices.

6. Other duties as assigned.

Additional Job Description:

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field AND a minimum of four years’ experience in a combination of quality assurance and/or business analysis, with at least two years being in business analysis OR
  A combination of IT related post-secondary and/or professional education and demonstrated relevant work experience in a combination of quality assurance and/or business analysis, with at least four years being in business analysis, equivalent to a total of eight years.

• Four years’ experience with some the following project management tools: Azure DevOps, JIRA, and Smartsheets.

• Two years’ experience with various software development approaches including agile and waterfall.

• Strong business process/operational knowledge (e.g., customer service, inventory management, procurement, accounting)

In addition to the above, the Principal Business Analyst required qualifications include:

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field AND a minimum of ten years’ experience in a combination of quality assurance and/or business analysis, with at least five years being in business analysis
  OR
  A combination of IT related post-secondary and/or professional education and demonstrated relevant work experience in a combination of quality assurance and/or business analysis, with at least seven years being in business analysis, equivalent to a total of fourteen years.
• Ten years’ experience with some the following project management tools: Azure DevOps, JIRA, and Smartsheets.
• Five years’ experience with various software development approaches including agile and waterfall.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field and eight years’ experience in a combination of quality assurance and/or business analysis, with at least four years being in business analysis.

• Six years’ experience with some the following project management tools: Azure DevOps, JIRA, and Smartsheets.

• Four years’ experience with various software development approaches including agile and waterfall.

In addition to the above, the Principal Business Analyst preferred qualifications include:

• Master’s degree in information technology or related field and fourteen years’ experience in a combination of quality assurance and/or business analysis, with at least seven years being in business analysis.
• Twelve years’ experience with some the following project management tools: Azure DevOps, JIRA, and Smartsheets.
• Seven years’ experience with various software development approaches including agile and waterfall.
