Job Description

SUMMARY: Stride is searching for a Senior Workday Payroll Administrator. A self-motivated individual who is eager to contribute and learn. The ideal candidate has strong communication and interpersonal skills and enjoys working in a fast-paced, dynamic, team-oriented environment; experience in supporting all aspects of the Workday Payroll and Taxes along with keen attention to detail and timing.

The Senior Workday Payroll Administrator is responsible for the administration and ongoing functional support of the Workday Payroll and Time Tracking platforms while working collaboratively with stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.

  • Responsible for the preparation and processing of exempt and non-exempt (biweekly) multi-state payroll for 10,000 employees from start to finish as part of the team using Workday and OSV
  • Reconcile the payroll from period to period
  • Calculate pro-rate wages and deductions when necessary, such as hire, termination, status change
  • Ensure tax and payroll deduction withholdings are accurate; understand reciprocity
  • Provide guidance on and process Workday retros
  • Perform Workday administrative functions which may include testing for integrations specific to the payroll, time tracking, and absence modules
  • Work closely with functional area subject matter experts and other stakeholders as needed to test and implement efficient solutions
  • Maintain payroll systems and records, ensuring compliance with SOX, federal, state, and local regulations
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve payroll related issues including W-2, Visa Exemption, Equity
  • Support RSA/RSU and equity processing
  • Support Workday feature release updates and enhancements as needed
  • Model best practice components of customer service using ticketing system
  • Stay updated on payroll and benefits legislation, ensuring the organization remains compliant with all laws and regulations
  • Collaborate with the payroll leader and other stakeholders to identify opportunities for process improvements and automation within Workday
  • Provide end-user support and training, ensuring employees and managers are equipped to effectively use Workday and its features
  • Assist the team in the implementation of new Workday functionality
  • Maintain documentation related to payroll processes, and user guides
  • Independently handle tax notices with OSV, BLS Surveys, Federal Audits and resolve them in a timely manner and
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to other team members
  • Assist with year-end activities or other projects as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: ·

  • Six (6) years experience with Workday in an administration role, with expertise in both the Payroll and Time Tracking modules, including handling year-end activities
  • In depth understanding of local taxes and termination laws of different states

Certificates and Licenses: None required

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience supporting finance and accounting with month end closing and reconciliation queries.
  • Experience working in the education sector industry is preferred.
  • Familiarity with payroll processes, policies, and best practices.
  • Experience in ticketing systems (i.e., Fresh Service, Zendesk).
  • Ability to prioritize (and re-prioritize) as business needs change.
  • Easy to work with and collaborative.
  • Ability to follow directions while also taking the lead when needed, with a focus on the bigger picture of each scenario.
  • Experience working with a diverse set of stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to interact with all levels of the organization and provide strong customer service.
  • Excellent problem solving/judgment skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills.

  • Available to work in the Eastern time zone and OT as needed only on payroll days or a few other occasions.
  • Ability to clear the required background check.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.

This position is virtual and open to residents of the 50 states, D.C. Preference will be given to candidates in the Eastern Time Zone.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: Stride, Inc. considers a person’s education, experience, and qualifications, as well as the position’s work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value when determining a new employee’s salary level.  Salaries will differ based on these factors, the position’s level and expected contribution, and the employee’s benefits elections.  Offers will typically be in the bottom half of the range. 

We anticipate this position will pay between $20.80 - $36.87 per hour. Eligible employees may receive a bonus.  This salary is not guaranteed, as an individual’s compensation can vary based on several factors.  These factors include, but are not limited to, geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions.
