Job Description
The SVP, Health Care Economics is a critical leadership role responsible for driving Privia Health's value-based care (VBC) strategy through expert analytical leadership and financial oversight. This executive will lead a team of analytical healthcare executives, providing strategic direction and hands-on guidance to optimize VBC program performance, forecasting, and financial management. This role requires a blend of deep technical expertise in healthcare economics and strong management acumen to navigate the complexities of CMS programs and market dynamics, ensuring Privia's continued success in a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape.
Primary Job Duties:
Lead, mentor, and empower a team of 3+ analytical healthcare executives, fostering a high-performance, collaborative environment.
Establish and drive detailed analytical processes, operating in a player-coach capacity to maximize team and individual performance.
Cultivate strong partnerships with key stakeholders, including national and market VBC operations, payer contracting, and finance.
Direct the development and execution of comprehensive strategic plans for VBC forecasting, valuation, and reserving.
Lead the annual budget and multi-year forecast process for VBC programs, ensuring alignment with financial objectives and market dynamics.
Oversee the financial evaluation and reserve management of VBC programs, including the accurate and timely completion of quarterly accruals for public reporting.
Spearhead the composition, underwriting, and performance monitoring of Privia’s MSSP ACOs, driving continuous improvement and optimization.
Provide thought leadership on CMS VBC models and regulatory changes, proactively identifying opportunities and mitigating risks.
Champion the utilization of advanced benchmarking tools (Milliman MCVAT, Price Transparency, Care Journey) to support profitable growth and business development.
Direct the provision of robust analytical support for VBC-related operations, including cost and utilization, referral network management, and quality improvement initiatives.
Design and administer equitable physician VBC shared savings distributions, ensuring transparency and accuracy.
Evaluate and support clinical programs, study designs, and effectiveness, contributing to evidence-based healthcare delivery.
Provide analytical support to VBC operations, payer contracting, finance, and business development initiatives.
Lead, manage, and execute operational and strategic plan annual value-based care forecasting initiatives.
Serve as a key subject-matter expert on Medicare Fee-For-Service initiatives and other payer programs.
Manage the budget and allocate resources to effectively meet Privia objectives.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Advanced degree (PhD, FSA/ASA, or Master’s) in a quantitative field such as Actuarial Science, Economics, Statistics, or Finance, with a strong foundation in healthcare economics.
Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience leading and managing high-performing analytics teams within complex healthcare organizations.
Demonstrated expertise in CMS MSSP/REACH and managed care VBC program design and performance analysis.
Proven track record of success in financial planning, forecasting, and VBC program valuation, ideally within a publicly traded company environment.
Expertise in leveraging payer claims and EMR data to drive actionable insights and evaluate the financial and quality impact of operational initiatives.
Hands-on proficiency with contemporary analytical tools and programming languages (SAS, SQL, R).
Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex analytical findings to diverse audiences and influence key stakeholders.
Strong strategic thinking, problem solving, and leadership capabilities.
The salary range for this role is $225,000-$275,000 in base pay and exclusive of any bonuses or benefits This role is also eligible for an annual bonus targeted at 30% and restricted stock units. The base pay offered will be determined based on relevant factors such as experience, education, and geographic location.
