Victor Insurance Managers Inc. is seeking a Senior Underwriting Assistant to help underwrite a dynamic commercial auto driven book of business located throughout the United States. 

Our team of forest and logging insurance professionals provide competitive quotes for commercial auto, general liability, inland marine and umbrella coverage.

  • This position will be working in conjunction with underwriters on an assigned book of business:

  • You will review, analyze and evaluate risks in order to renew existing business or generate new accounts.

  • You will work closely with underwriters and determine appropriate terms and conditions for coverages and rates for individual accounts.

  • you will use high level communication and analytic skills to develop and manage business to achieve long term underwriting profit and growth.

  • The ideal candidate requires some commercial lines experience, with knowledge of commercial auto, general liability and inland marine a plus. 

  • The ideal candidate likes challenges, opportunities to develop innovative approaches to satisfy clients' needs and keeps pace with the rest of the team.

What can you expect?

  • To become an important team member of a foundational programs within Victor’s Specialty P&C practice.

  • Within the first 30 days you will need to quickly gain an in-depth understanding of the operational process, program rules, and engage with the underwriting team.  Within 60 days you will need to begin to assist team members with their assigned accounts. Within 90 days you will begin to support a book of business, and engage our national brokerage base.

We will count on you to:

  • Reviews new business applications and contacts brokers/agents to obtain missing information in a timely manner to support the growth of new business accounts.

  • Responds to new business, renewal and endorsement requests from existing brokers or potential clients in order to secure business or enhance existing service.

  • Reviews and analyzes submissions, examines application forms and past claims.

  • Prepares rating for all quotations with existing coverage and reviews new business quotations received from brokers/agents

  • Follows up on outstanding requests such as change requests, signature endorsements, accounts receivables, etc., to support the underwriters accounts.

  • Applies functional understanding and technical knowledge of applicable underwriting procedures and policies to support professional staff.

  • Provides advice and expertise to other underwriting assistants and underwriters on underwriting issues.  Additionally may mentor and assist in training of other underwriters and underwriting assistants.

What you need to have:

  • 2+ years of commercial insurance experience

  • Expertise with rating and policy issuance for auto, general liability and umbrella policies

  • Excellent communication skills including persuasiveness and influence

The applicable base salary range for this role is $51,600 to $110,000.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
