About The Role
Join a collaborative team of writers to create product support documentation for a cutting edge SaaS security application, developer tools (SDK), and APIs. As a senior technical writer at AppOmni, you are responsible for making documentation an integral part of the user experience for our customers. AppOmni is a dynamic environment where technical writers are part of the development team, writing docs-as-code and collaborating with developers, QE, SMEs, customer support, designers, and product managers.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Experiment and Explore: From the first day you are expected to build a development environment, and gain an in-depth understanding of our Security application from the inside out. You will try out procedures and know how to make them work for users.
- Empower and Enhance:
- Develop and execute strategies to improve customer product documentation that empowers customers to effectively use our products, based on an understanding of best practices for onboarding, procedures, reference, and API documentation.
- Communicate and cultivate relationships across the organization to collaborate and obtain the subject matter expert input that is necessary to take our docs to the next level. Our teams work well together and are committed to better documentation.
- Continuously prioritize, assess and improve technical writing processes, tools, and workflows to enhance efficiency, productivity, and docs quality for the whole team.
What we are looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Information Technology, Computer Science or a similar field, preferred
- 5+ years experience in a Tech Writer position
- 2+ years experience writing for SaaS products
- 2+ years experience documenting APIs and SDKs
- 2+ years experience writing docs-as-code (using Github)
- Previous experience with SaaS security, preferred
- Experience writing in markdown in an IDE like Visual Studio
- Experience using a static site generator like Hugo or Docusaurus to generate a documentation site
- Experience with publishing docs with DevOps CI/CD pipeline tools like CircleCI
- High editorial standards
- Experience and a background in information architecture
- Have a portfolio with relevant writing samples.
- Self-motivated and enjoy working both independently and collaboratively
- Ability to curate content from complex technical documentation into simple concepts that are easy to understand for end-users
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines

Our total rewards package includes the following:
- Base Salary: The annual base salary compensation range in the U.S. for this role is: $114,750 - $155,250. Final offer amounts are determined by factors such as the final candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience, as well as business considerations and peer compensation.
