Senior Technical Product Manager

Summary of Position:
The Princeton Review is known around the world as the authoritative source for college and graduate-school admissions advice, thanks primarily to our “Best Colleges” and other print titles. Tutor.com is known as the best-in-class provider of academic support solutions in the institutional market. We’re looking for the right person to guide the evolution of our business as we leverage this expertise into a portfolio of academic support web and app products, working either from home or from our New York City office.
As the Technical Product Manager, you will oversee all aspects of changes and improvements for our website, princetonreview.com and supporting technology to foster business growth. You will collaborate with marketing and sales teams to support their initiatives, while also working closely with the engineering team to execute large-scale projects and manage day-to-day updates. You should be adaptable, capable of contributing across all stages of the product lifecycle, and comfortable engaging with developers, customers, and executives alike.
Major Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Sales and Marketing on business strategy and create technology initiatives.
- Lead the scrum team with engineering lead
- Understand design principles and discuss technical trade-offs through design thinking.
- Work with designers to propose interaction design and user experience for prototype testing.
- Conduct discovery, user research, build prototypes, and design tests to support low-risk, data-driven decisions.
- Collaborate with Product Managers on roadmaps, features, and stakeholder engagement.
- Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
- Use data to drive product decisions and target success metrics.
- Validate issues using error reports and create bug cases if necessary.
- Work with QA Engineers to resolve bugs and facilitate user acceptance testing.
Education, Background, Experience & Qualifications:
- 5-7 years’ experience in a technical product management (preferably at an education technology company, college admissions company, or similar organization)
- 3+ years of experience working in a web site optimization or a growth team supporting marketing and sales.
- Experience working with A/B testing tools, modern CMS tools, Web analytics, Customer behavior tracking tools, SEO, SEM
- Experience leading scrum teams in agile and lean methodologies
- Strong analytical and quantitative skillset (power BI or similar)
- Strong written and oral communication skillset, and an ability to deliver compelling presentations (both online and in-person) to a variety of internal and external audiences
- Ability to efficiently lead and manage the work of other team members in a remote/distributed environment, especially technical and business resources who don’t report to you directly
- Willingness to take full ownership of assigned responsibilities, prioritize complex tasks with (sometimes contradictory) input from multiple stakeholders, and go above and beyond your “official” duties to serve our customers
- Prior hands-on engineering experience is highly desirable
- Strong familiarity with front-end web development concepts (eg, HTML/CSS, Javascript, JQuery, Bootstrap framework, etc) and related tools preferred
- Strong familiarity with SDLC management and productivity tools (eg, Jira/Confluence, Trello, Git, Figma, Miro, etc) preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in a related area, or equivalent real-world expertise
Salary: $105,000 - $140,000 per year, based on a 40-hour work week.
