Senior Systems Software Engineer, Autonomy

At Serve Robotics, we’re reimagining how things move in cities. We are seeking a Senior Systems Software Engineer with a specialization in building autonomy or automotive safety critical software at scale. In this role, you will work closely with our autonomy team to design, develop, and optimize software that enable our robots to navigate and operate autonomously in complex real-world environments. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will work closely with hardware, perception, navigation, and control engineers to ensure the overall system's reliability, efficiency, and performance.
Key Responsibilities
Develop efficient real-time software to integrate sensor data (LIDAR, cameras, IMUs) with decision-making processes.
Design and implement system-level software for robot navigation, planning, and control.
Lead the hardware/software bring-up of next-gen hardware versions with systems approach mindset.
Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure software and hardware integration.
Contribute to the architecture of the autonomy software stack, ensuring modularity, maintainability, and scalability.
Develop and implement strategies to optimize software performance, ensuring efficient use of system resources.
Debug and troubleshoot system software issues, identifying bottlenecks and improving performance.
Implement system monitoring tools to ensure reliability and early detection of potential issues in production.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
4+ years of experience in application software development with system verification and validation for real-time and safety critical systems.
Prior work experience with robotics or autonomous systems, Should be good in at least one of major domains of perception / planning / controls / mapping.
Proficient in modern C++ (C++17 and newer) and python with a deep understanding of performance optimization techniques.
Experience with ROS (Robot Operating System) or similar robotics middleware.
Experience working with sensors such as LIDAR, GPS, cameras, and IMUs.
Experience with CPU and GPU performance profiling and optimization tools.
Proven ability to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in complex systems.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
What makes you stand out
Experience with NVIDIA Jetson hardware.
Experience with cloud-based infrastructure for robotics (e.g., monitoring, logging).
Familiarity with functional safety, and software validation techniques.
