Position Summary:

IEM is hiring for a Full-Time, Senior Systems Architect to join our Digital Service sector. System architects are responsible for envisioning, communicating, and evolving a customer’s enterprise architecture. The enterprise architecture addresses key enterprise aspects – including organizational structure, business processes and strategies, value streams, data and information, and supporting technologies – and how they fit together and are expected to evolve over time.

 

A detail-oriented systems architect will be assisting in the operational systems engineering and enterprise architecture for our customers. The systems architect's responsibilities include improving IT infrastructure, optimizing business operations, and setting the direction and approach for integrating data, information applications and programs. The systems architect is also responsible for cataloging, developing, coordinating, communicating, maintaining, and enforcing overall enterprise architecture models, representations, initiatives, capabilities, and components to adequately perform the organization's business and technology activities.

Primary Location:  

  • Candidates can originate from anywhere in the United States, you will work remotely from home or personal office location.
  • All remote work environments require the ability to maintain minimum Internet speeds of 25 Mbps upload and 3 Mbps download, as well as a ping rate of 100 ms or less during working hours, regardless of the type and number of devices using your Internet connection. You must also have account privileges and access to your Internet service provider account during working hours for the purposes of maintaining the Internet connection, if needed.

Travel Requirements:

  • Up to 30% of the time, based on business.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with IT professionals, engineers, and leaders to document current state architecture, develop domain capability models, heatmaps, maturity assessments, health assessments, and technical roadmaps
  • Ensure business and technology groups enable and drive each other to meet the needs of the customer mission and vision
  • Provide input to the scope definition of strategic initiatives leveraging roadmaps, capability heatmaps, etc. to give visibility to impacts, dependencies, overlaps, and improvement opportunities
  • Contribute to the architecture review process by creating validation checklists, reviewing architectural artifacts, and providing domain specific guidance to drive architectural alignment across the enterprise
  • Evaluate internal functions, business development strategies, and IT processes and suggesting improvements.
  • Create business architecture models to reflect the organization's strategies and goals and creating and implementing business visions and goals.
  • Evaluate systems engineering models for discrepancies and vulnerabilities and suggest ideas to reduce costs in IT and business leadership.
  • Ensure the efficiency, security, and support of the organization's goals with systems architecture.
  • Create methods for compliance architecture, such as data storage, metadata management, and change control.
  • Determine and implement build versus buy strategies
  • Ability to lead or support bid and proposal development with minimal supervision, and provide technical support to sales team
  • Research emerging trends and ideas, and evaluate new technologies that can be implemented

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in information technology or a related field.
  • Experience in system architecture may be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of various cloud providers, PaaS, SaaS and cybersecurity systems available on the market.
  • Excellent technical, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good leadership, communication, and motivational skills.
  • Experience in modeling and graphic representations.
  • Proficiency in artificial intelligence applications and machine learning models.
  • Eligible for obtaining US government secret clearance 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Secret Clearance
