Overview

As a Sr. Storage Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of SAN, NAS, and backup administration, encompassing tasks such as architecting, installation, upgrades, patching, tuning, and providing support and troubleshooting.  The role will provide guidance, analysis, and recommendations to the department on all storage subsystems and components while acting as a lead to design and implement new technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a high level of technical expertise to support complex SAN, NAS, and Backup solutions across all tiers, under minimal supervision.
  • Leading the design, deployment, maintenance, and support of high-performance, highly-secure, highly-available, Storage technologies
  • Responsible for complex provisioning, data replication, disaster recovery, and data migration for our Storage and Backup environments
  • Maintains and/or enhances storage system tools and processes related to SAN, NAS, Backup/Archive and Recovery, Data Replication systems, and storage software solutions
  • Creation of documentation, standards, best practices, and new processes for operational integration of new technology solutions
  • Responsible for mentoring and developing junior team members
  • Managing storage capacity planning and forecasting, ensuring continued scalability and cost-effectiveness
  • Developing strategies for efficient data management, backup, and recovery
  • Documents and maintains storage assets for multi-location storage environment
  • Driving collaboration with cross-functional teams, building relationships with key stakeholders, and gathering platform feedback and requirements
  • Attend meetings and evaluate projects for level of engagement required, and coordinate implementation activities across multiple teams
  • Provide assistance as required in analyzing the trends and suggesting long-term and short-term improvements
  • Help promote a consistent vision and strategy throughout the organization
  • Effectively and professionally interact with customers, clients, and employees.
  • Must be willing to carry a cell phone, be on-call and occasionally work odd hours to help meet customer service level agreements.
  • Complete all responsibilities as outlined in the annual performance review and/or goal setting.
  • Complete all special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Information Systems and 8+ years of related work experience, or 12+ years of related work experience without a Bachelor’s degree.
  • 5+ years of extensive experience in the following areas:
    • SAN – Nimble, Pure, Hitachi, Dell EMC
    • NAS – Dell EMC Isilon, Oracle ZFS, Hitachi HNAS
    • Object storage – Dell EMC ECS
    • SAN Fabric administration and maintenance (Brocade, Cisco MDS)
    • Managing and monitoring a backup environment leveraging enterprise backup technologies including CommVault, Rubrik, and Veritas
    • Multipathing (MPIO) technologies on various platforms (Windows/Linux).
    • Fibre Channel and iSCSI Block Storage Protocols, CIFS and NFS File Storage Protocols
  • Experience with local and remote replication technologies such as: Brocade FCIP, EMC SRDF, HDS HUR, Dell EMC RecoverPoint
  • Experience with UNIX (Linux, AIX, Solaris), VMware or other hypervisors, and Windows operating environments
  • Experience with disaster recovery as it relates to storage systems and data recovery techniques, including disk replication, snapshots and disaster recovery best practices
  • Ability to write technical design and build documentation for all aspects of Storage and Backup infrastructure
  • Comprehensive understanding of cloud services and platforms, such as AWS and Azure
  • Knowledge of database technologies, including MSSQL, Oracle RAC, ASM, RMAN, and experience supporting enterprise database applications including optimal storage configurations
  • Hands on scripting experience to automate various administration tasks
  • Experience in performing root cause analysis, risk identification, and risk mitigation

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.
  • No adverse environmental conditions expected.

Base compensation ranges from $99,500 to $140,000. Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, education, skills, certifications, and other business needs.

 

This role is eligible for discretionary bonus consideration
