We are seeking a Senior SRE - Observability Engineer to join our growing Observability Team. Observability services are a vital part of keeping Five9 customers happy by determining our infrastructure and applications are working as expected.

This individual will support our Observability platform (Metrics and Logs) as we continue to provide the best Observability services to Five9.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deploy, Upgrade, Maintain third party application stacks for metrics, logging and APM using standard SRE tools like Ansible / Terraform / ArgoCD
  • Create new Ansible roles and playbooks to make SRE duties more efficient / automated
  • Create new Terraform modules
  • Advanced troubleshooting of performance issues related to Linux
  • Containerize applications into docker images
  • Create / maintain CI/CD pipeline for developer code in Gitlab
  • Support developers with deploying and maintaining application servers
  • Work with other teams to gather Observability requirements and implement strategy
  • Provide technical leadership to Observability engineers to train them, guide them, support them to complete their tasks.
  • Receive instructions from Manager / Staff Engineers and be able to achieve the work with minimum help.
  • Be a part of on-call rotation to isolate and resolve incidents on Observability platform.

Requirements

  • 5-8 years experience as an SRE or similar experience with public cloud operators specifically GCP and AWS
  • 5-8 years experience with Kubernetes /Docker
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with deploying applications with Helm charts
  • Advanced experience with Kafka in terms of deployment, management and how to use it in a complex Observability stack
  • Advanced knowledge of Linux administration (CentOS / Ubuntu)
  • Advanced scripting abilities ( Bash / Python)
  • Intermediate to advance experience with Hypervisor technologies ( VMware / KVM)
  • Intermediate knowledge of networking concepts to be able to troubleshoot advance architectures that involves complex networks.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with Terraform to the point of writing new Terraform modules from scratch
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with Ansible to the point of writing new Ansible roles and playbooks from scratch
  • Expert knowledge with Observability tools such as Grafana/Prometheus for metrics, Elastic/Grafana Loki/ Splunk for logging, Grafana Tempo for tracing, New Relic/AppDynamics for APM

This role is fully remote for candidates who reside at least 50 miles away from our San Francisco or San Ramon office locations. For candidates who reside within 50 miles of our San Francisco or San Ramon locations, this role will be Hybrid.

Additionally, the total compensation package for this position may also include an annual performance bonus, stock, and/or other applicable incentive compensation plans.

All compensation and benefits are subject to the requirements and restrictions set forth in the applicable plan documents and any written agreements between the parties.

The US base salary range for this role is below. $150,800—$233,700 USD
