Our Company Manufacturing Division is responsible for the manufacturing and supply of our Company products globally.  North America Manufacturing Logistics plays a key role in ensuring the compliant flow of material into and out of the North America region. 

The Senior Specialist in this position will be responsible for supporting US import operations in a variety of ways, including as a subject matter expert for Customs and Partner Government Agency topics.  This role supports primarily the Manufacturing Division but also extends beyond to other divisions when support is relevant company-wide within the region.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage US Department of Agriculture (USDA) compliance issues raised by Import Specialists and shippers, including questions and issues concerning USDA permits and Guideline Statements, and manage our Company ck USDA permit program as it applies to imports, exports and domestic transportation covered by USDA rules

  • Formulate Manufacturer Identification (MID) codes and maintain our Company MID list

  • Receive, investigate, and respond to US Customs Notices of Penalty, including managing any payments through surety

  • Administrate Temporary Import in Bond (TIB)/Import for Export (IFE) program for our Company and coordinate with stakeholders impacting process

  • Maintain and enforce US Customs bonds and Powers of Attorney for all our Company business in the United States and Puerto Rico to also include Foreign Trade Zones and export activities

  • Oversee Post Summary Correction (PSC) requests to brokers, including maintaining required documentation in our Company systems of record

  • Perform monthly Post Entry Review of entries and any follow up needed, including counseling of party responsible for error and management of PSCs with broker, if needed

  • Collaborate with stakeholders on performance of Corrective and Preventive Action investigations for CBP and FDA detentions and holds

  • Manage FDA Refusals as they occur

  • Assist import manager with our Manufacturing Division import audit conducted by Global trade Compliance

  • Compile and evaluate Partner Government Agency status reports

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree with at least 5 years of experience or High School Diploma/GED with equivalent experience in an Import Operations/Trade Compliance environment

  • In-depth understanding of USDA rules as they apply to pharmaceutical products, including the types of guidelines statements and permits as needed for both imports and exports

  • Significant experience with other Partner Government Agencies applicable to pharmaceuticals, such as Fish & Wildlife Services, Drug Enforcement Agency, Food & Drug Administration, etc.

  • General US import compliance background beyond pharmaceuticals

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Understanding of information technology and ability to use various applications and systems.

  • Strong time management skills and the ability to work within a team as well as independently

Preferred Experience

  • Educational or work background in chemistry/biology

  • Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) certification or Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) preferred

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

The Company is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job in certain states and cities within the United States. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate’s relevant skills, experience, and education.

Expected US salary range:

$101,100.00 - $159,100.00
