About This Role:

Axsome Therapeutics is seeking a Sr. Specialist, Clinical Trial Recruitment with strong clinical trial background and awareness of site engagement and recruitment tactics to support the clinical team in effectively planning for and achieving on-time enrollment by developing and executing innovative patient recruitment and site engagement strategies. This position achieves these goals by working with the clinical team to proactively identify opportunities and challenges related to patient recruitment and retention. 

This role is based at Axsome’s HQ in New York City with an on-site requirement of at least three days per week. We are unable to consider candidates who are looking for fully remote roles.

Job Responsibilities and Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Lead strategic initiatives for trial-specific patient recruitment and retention efforts for assigned clinical studies during study start-up
  • Develop study-specific recruitment materials and assess feasibility of central recruitment campaigns
  • Identify and evaluate recruitment vendors that offer innovative solutions or approaches and oversee the selection and oversight in collaboration with the clinical team
  • Work cross-functionally (e.g., Clinical Development and Regulatory) in the review and approval of study and site-specific recruitment materials. This includes providing and communicating feedback on written content and design elements
  • Monitor weekly enrollment metrics and work alongside the clinical team to meet/exceed enrollment goals for assigned studies
  • Establish application of best practices and lessons learned across all clinical studies
  • Track, analyze, and present data from central recruitment campaigns
  • Attend internal and external meetings and provide updates on recruitment activities
  • Assist with developing content such as newsletters and presentations
  • Liaise with clinical sites to evaluate site-specific recruitment initiatives and determine the potential ROI, along with clinical team
  • Manage the recruitment budget for assigned clinical studies
  • Perform outreach as necessary for underperforming clinical sites to evaluate enrollment goals. Proactively develop solutions and communicate feedback to clinical team

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Degree in life sciences, health care or related discipline required.
  • At least 3 years of experience in patient recruitment discipline in a biotech/pharmaceutical company, clinical research organization (CRO), or patient recruitment vendor required
  • Experience in developing clinical study patient recruitment strategies
    • Experience in rare disease / difficult to recruit populations is a plus
  • Ability to work on site Monday, Tuesday & Thursday

Experience and Knowledge

  • Knowledge and understanding of FDA, GCP and ICH guidelines
  • Must have strong organization skills, be a team player yet function independently and comfortable interacting with vendors, investigational sites, and advocacy groups
  • Comfortable multi-tasking in a fast-paced small company environment and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities
  • Excellent team player: willingness and ability to fill functional gaps in a growing organization

Salary and Benefits:

The anticipated salary range for this role is $80,000 - $105,000. We encourage candidates of all levels to apply as there may be flexibility on final job title and responsibilities. The salary offer will be based on a variety of factors, including experience, qualifications, internal equity and location.
