  Expected Salary Range: $84,981.00 - $106,227.00 - $132,784.00

JOB SUMMARY


The Senior Specialist, Accessibility and Inclusion ensures that BCLC products, services, and digital platforms are accessible to all users and our players, including those with disabilities. This role promotes inclusivity, enhances user experience, and ensures compliance with accessibility standards and regulations. This role is responsible for leading the implementation of the Barrier Free BCLC Multi-Year Accessibility Plan, which will include planning, prioritizing, cross-organization partnerships, conducting audits, ensuring responsible parties are accountable for their deliverables. 


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Leads the implementation of the Barrier Free BCLC Multi-Year Accessibility Plan, which will include planning, prioritizing, cross-organization partnerships, conducting audits, ensuring responsible parties are accountable for their deliverables by engaging and partnering with all Divisions and all role levels (including senior leadership).
  • Provides guidance as a subject matter expert by proactively embedding accessibility into internal and external operations of BCLC as per the provincial legislation and accessibility standards. Including working collaboratively with product development teams to integrate accessibility into the design and development processes.
  • Conducts comprehensive accessibility audits of our digital platforms and physical environments. Monitoring and reporting on accessibility compliance and progress.
  • Develops and implements accessibility policies and guidelines. Interpretation of policies and legalisation and stays up to date on the latest accessibility standards and technologies.
  • Provides training and resources to staff on accessibility best practices and new initiatives.
  • Contributes to budget planning by working with divisional leaders to provide recommendations on accessibility and inclusion spending priorities and provide them with estimated amounts/cost as needed.  Tracks accessibility and inclusion costs for the Manager, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging.
  • Serves as a liaison with external accessibility advocacy groups and regulatory bodies.  Providing support to P&C team with regards to accommodation, and human rights. 
  • Addresses and responds to complaints related to accessibility and inclusion both internally and externally. Responsible for creating reports and tracking these complaints and issues and presenting findings.  

 

QUALIFICATIONS


A combination of education, experience, and demonstrated skills may be considered.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Business, Social Sciences or in a related field;
  • Certification for Diversity & Inclusion will be considered;
  • 4-6 years related experience with at least 3 years diversity and inclusion experience in a work environment, including experience in implementation of and supporting diversity committees and employee resource groups.

 

KNOWLEDGE & TECHNICAL SKILLS 

  • Knowledge and understanding of BCLC’s social purpose, employees, player base and the strategic vision, position requires broad, cross-disciplinary conceptual knowledge about disabilities, accessibility, and universal design. 
  • Experience in tech and systems and processes
  • Strong knowledge of various legislations such as Human Rights, Anti-Racism, Accessibility and Employment Standards Act, accessibility-related standards, laws, and management strategies.
  • Skills to address some of the most common accessibility issues on websites and documents worldwide, as identified by Disability Research, Policy, and Practices. 
  • Experienced with Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. 
  • Experience with stakeholder management and leading committees.
