As a Senior Software Engineer within the Sam's Tech team, you'll be working with the Production Support and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team for Sam's Club eCommerce. This role will focus on production support and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) to ensure the stability, performance, and scalability of our ecommerce platform. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, production support, and SRE practices including incident management, monitoring and alerting configuration, etc.

Our team ensures the reliability and performance of essential services like Scan & Go, curbside pickup, and same-day delivery, which are integral to our members' seamless shopping experience. As a key player, you'll be at the forefront, ensuring the availability of our eCommerce platform. You'll implement robust solutions with alerting, monitoring, and developing tools to proactively address production issues, supporting our unique eCommerce services and delivering a best-in-class member experience”.

What you'll do:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, SREs, and engineering managers, to ensure the reliability and performance of the ecommerce platform.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance monitoring, alerting, and incident response systems to ensure high availability and quick resolution of production issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues, working closely with the SRE team to implement long-term solutions.
  • Implement and maintain automation tools, scripts and applications to streamline production support processes and improve efficiency.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for critical production systems.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of incidents and drive continuous improvement initiatives to prevent recurrence.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in software development, production support, and SRE.



What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on production support and SRE.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or Go.
  • Strong understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in a production environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).
