Senior Software Engineer

Updater, Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to design and develop high-quality, scalable solutions while fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence. This role requires a proven track record of delivering robust software in a fast-paced environment, alongside exceptional problem-solving skills and a passion for continuous improvement. You will own end-to-end development of key features and play a critical role in shaping our products and technical practices.
Key Responsibilities
Full-Cycle Software Development
- Architect, design, and implement new product features using modern coding standards and best practices.
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and optimize existing systems for maximum performance and reliability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Product, Design, and QA teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Participate in regular stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives to ensure alignment and timely delivery.
Code Quality & Technical Leadership
- Write clean, maintainable, and testable code, promoting high engineering standards.
- Conduct thorough code reviews and offer constructive feedback to peers.
Mentorship & Team Development
- Provide guidance and coaching to junior and mid-level engineers.
- Lead by example, adopting best practices, exploring new technologies, and fostering team cohesion.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Research and propose emerging tools, frameworks, and methodologies to enhance workflow and performance.
- Drive improvements in the software development lifecycle, including deployment, monitoring, and optimization.
Documentation & Knowledge Sharing
- Create and maintain technical documentation for system designs and features.
- Champion knowledge-sharing across the engineering organization.
Qualifications
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Python, Java, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript) and deep understanding of distributed systems, APIs, and cloud-based architectures.
- Agile Methodologies: Familiarity with Agile/Scrum processes and CI/CD pipelines.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills for tackling complex technical challenges under tight deadlines.
- Collaboration: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable working in diverse, cross-functional teams.
- Adaptability: Willingness to learn and pivot to new technologies, tools, and best practices.
Compensation
This posting is anticipated to remain open until May 21, 2025. The new hire salary range for this position is $104,000-185,000 annually. Factors which may affect the starting pay within this range include skills, experience, and other qualifications aligned with Updater's internal leveling guidelines.
