Senior Software Engineer

DUTIES:

  • Help transform and modernize a global award-winning Revenue Management system, using cloud-based technology and frameworks including Microservices, EMR, Kafka, PostgreSQL, Couchbase, S3.
  • Work closely with the Product team to create solutions that serve the business leveraging current and leading-edge technologies in an innovative and impactful manner.
  • Help drive and adopt Agile development methodologies and technologies.
  • Perform research, analysis, design, creation, and implementation of applications to meet current and future user requirements.
  • Define and create the next generation of solutions to drive Marriott value.
  • Release high-quality code early and often using lean and agile technical practices and processes.
  • Work closely with architects, engineers, as well as product and business owners to evolve architectures and design technical solutions.
  • Work with a lean-agile team(s) to develop scalable and robust Scala-based systems and web applications.
  • Take technical leadership of software development on a small team.
  • Experience with distributed systems and solving availability, scalability and consistency problems in them.
  • Skillful at interacting and working with people in a leadership role; working with a self-organized lean and agile team to mitigate key project technical risks, managing effort, and ensuring quality.
  • Dedicated to producing quality code and dedicated to best practices such as automated testing, code reviews, pair programming, test driven development, continuous integration, and continuous deployment.
  • Passionate about enabling others to adopt new technologies.
  • Coordinates with Operations and Infrastructure Delivery teams for deployment and production support activities.

 

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field followed by 5 years’ experience in software development using Java and other programming languages and methodologies.

 

Other required experience:

• 5 years of hands-on experience in developing applications using Java and Object-oriented programming.

• 5 years of experience with DevOps processes (CI/CD) and tools such as Git, JIRA, and/or Jenkins

• 5 years of experience working with stakeholders, both technical and non-technical, including senior leadership

• 4 years of experience building applications for Cloud (AWS) and leveraging & optimizing managed services in Cloud

•  3 years of experience building large scale, high performing applications with hands-on experience in performance tuning

•  3 years of experience with technologies supporting messaging (Kafka), relational databases (SQL), containerization (Docker), container platforms (EKS), log ingestion (Splunk, ELK), and metrics pipelines (telegraf, Wavefront)

•  3 years of experience as a team lead, driving design, technology, and tooling decisions while reinforcing best practices through code reviews

• 3 years of experience building, deploying, operating and supporting applications in a service-based architecture

• 2 years of experience driving cost saving efforts via application tuning & infrastructure footprint reduction.

 

Telework:  100% remote; position may be performed from anywhere in the US.

Travel: Up to 5% domestic travel to Marriott locations.                                               

The salary range for this position is $103,600 to $172,900 annually. In addition to the annual salary, the position will be eligible to receive an annual bonus.
