Senior Software Engineer, Backend

As a Backend Engineer at Standard AI, you will help us set up our expanding micro-services, build or rebuild data models, and establish integrations with anything from client API’s to ML services. You’ll work closely with machine learning, application, infrastructure and other backend engineering teams to deploy scalable and resilient systems that meet our evolving product requirements. Most importantly, you’ll work to create new ways to manage system complexity, so that our customers can have the most streamlined, frictionless experience possible. 

This is a FULL TIME role and can be based remotely anywhere within the US on an ongoing basis. Standard AI is a remote first company. We want our employees to have the flexibility to create work habits, locations, and schedules that best fit their lives.

What you'll do here:

• Design and implement services and APIs supporting both internal and external products
• Ensure our code is scalable, maintainable, and reliable
• Partner with other teams to iterate quickly on experimental systems that solve real user problems
• Proactively find and fix performance bottlenecks in our services
• Mentor junior engineers and help establish best practices for cloud based microservices

Who you are:

• Have 4+ years of backend development experience with object oriented languages (Python, Go, Java, etc.)
• Built cloud-based micro services and are an expert at event-based architecture
• Built and scaled MVPs
• Like solving complex and ambiguous problems efficiently - sometimes by writing code, but also by knowing when not to write code
• Enjoy helping other developers become better, through code review, design discussions, and more
