We are seeking a highly skilled and Senior Software Engineer to join our team and play a pivotal role in developing our critical systems - (100% Remote).

 

As a Senior Software Engineer on our ATG team, you will be a part of a dynamic team that develops the technologies that form the foundation for a new generation of digital warfighting tools. Our rapidly growing team develops a wide range of machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities addressing our customer’s challenges in the areas of Natural Language Processing (NLP), Computer Vision, Data Fusion, Automation, and Operational AI for Command and Control. This position is contingent upon your ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance. 

 

In this role, you will:

  • Software Engineering:
    • Collaborate with co-workers, leadership, and clients to understand client problems, identify solutions, and demonstrate software solutions.
    • Interface with customers to define requirements and communicate them to the development team
    • Design, develop and modify software written in primarily Java and Python
    • Participate in internal and client-defined agile software development processes
    • Ensure software complies with customer requirements.
    • Write technical software documentation and explain software design and implementation to co-workers, clients, and partners.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Effectively communicate design concepts and rationale to stakeholders at all levels.
    • Work closely with engineering and development teams to ensure design implementation meets specifications.
    • Participate in agile development processes and contribute to sprint planning and reviews.
    • Present design concepts and prototypes to internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have: 

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related discipline from an accredited university
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience 
  • Strong leadership skills to effectively lead project development
  • Expert knowledge of Java
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to travel up to 10%

Additional desired experience and skills: 

  • Proficient in Python
  • Experience contributing to production-grade software
  • Experience with DoD information systems, use cases, and development practices
  • Experience writing software that interacts with databases and a working knowledge of database internals
  • Experience with Java EE application development and related standards (JAX-RS, CDI, Config, Servlet) or similar frameworks
  • Working knowledge of web standards, common protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, HTTP, TLS), and common data format standards (e.g., XML, JSON)
  • Experience writing software that integrates with authentication, authorization, and single-sign-on technologies
  • Experience with software containerization and container orchestration technologies
  • Working knowledge of secure software development practices and common weaknesses
  • Working knowledge of Git and bug tracking tools such as JIRA
  • Advanced knowledge of Linux including development and hardening of system services

In compliance with state and local laws regarding pay transparency, the salary range for this role is $121,744.58 to $210,984.64; however, Serco considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
