The Zillow Eventing Platform team plays a critical role in supporting Zillow businesses such as Zillow Home Loans, Premier Agent, Rentals, and our immersive Search and Discovery experiences. About the role

As a Senior Engineering Manager on the Eventing Platform team, you will coordinate the design, implementation, and release of significant features which enable other engineers across Zillow to innovate at a rapid pace. Your role will involve fostering a positive and impactful engineering culture, promoting professional growth, and encouraging creative thinking to position the team for success.

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.

In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $201,700.00 - $322,300.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC and may not be applicable to other locations.

In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

Who you are

You are a leader who enjoys problem solving, collaboration, and diving into technical challenges. You have experience maintaining highly available services and have an understanding of platform engineering. Lastly, you are motivated by engineering excellence and delivering high-quality results.

Responsibilities for this role include:

  • Managing a team of 5-8 software developers

  • Work alongside product managers, engineering collaborators, data scientists, and program managers

  • Growing the team through mentorship and hiring

  • Leading through strategic direction setting

  • Leading all aspects of the engineering lifecycle

  • Being accountable for delivering high-quality product services and values through the team.

​​Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of software development experience as an individual contributor or team lead

  • 2+ years in a management or tech leadership role

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree or equivalent experience, with a preference for a background in Computer Science.

  • Experience collaborating with product managers and multi-functional collaborators

  • Experience driving the technical strategy of the team

  • Knowledge of Agile software development methodologies

  • Demonstrated experience mentoring and growing hard-working engineering teams
