Area Description:

The Cybersecurity team at GFiber leads the protection of our networks, systems, and data from advanced threats, and helps lead our commitment to ensuring GFiber delivers internet services securely, making the default path the secure path for our customers. 


This Security Engineer position within the Security Operations team is on the front lines, detecting, responding to, and mitigating security incidents to ensure the resilience and reliability of GFiber's services. This role will play a critical role in building and maturing our security operations capabilities.

 

Role Description:

As a Security Engineer focusing on Security Operations, your goal is to ensure GFiber securely delivers services to our customers by effectively managing security incident response and threat management capabilities. You’ll leverage your expertise in security operations, combined with a strong understanding of automated tooling, threat intelligence, and AI in security, to enhance our ability to detect, analyze, and respond to security incidents effectively. 


In this role, you'll be a key member of the Security Operations team, directly contributing to GFiber's security. You will focus on building and improving our incident response and threat management capabilities, leveraging automation and AI. You’ll work within the Cybersecurity Operations team and collaborate closely with the Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) team, as well as the Security Engineering team. 

 

In this role, you’ll


  • Champion secure defaults: Design and implement security solutions with a customer-first mindset, ensuring the "default path" is the secure path for GFiber users and customers.
  • Leading SecOps projects and maintenance: Move key work forward for security event management and incident response processes, using first-principles thinking to create the best approaches for GFiber.
  • Driving the integration and optimization: From SOAR tools or AI-driven solutions, automate and accelerate security operations workflows.
  • Evolving and maintaining: A threat intelligence program, enabling proactive threat hunting and informed decision-making.
  • Innovation: Innovative applications of AI to enhance threat detection, incident response, and security monitoring capabilities.

 

At a minimum we’d like you to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience in security operations, including incident response, threat management, and threat intelligence/hunting.
  • Experience with applying AI to enhance security operations capabilities.
  • Experience with Pen Testing, DDos (Offense and Defense). 

 

It’s preferred if you have: 

 

  • Ability to conduct digital forensics for incident response investigations.
  • Experience building AI-driven threat intelligence and threat hunting solutions and tooling.
  • Demonstrated success in growing, building, and leading security teams.
  • Skillful management of vendor relationships within the security industry.
  • Experience with SOAR (Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response) technologies and scripting for security automation (e.g., Python, Bash).



The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $185,000 - $271,000 + bonus + cash award + benefits. As pay varies by location, your recruiter will share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location during the hiring process.
