Position Overview: 

We are looking for a scientist to manage peptide drug discovery projects, perform in vitro assay, assay development, protein expression and manage external collaborations to support our drug discovery program and IND-enabling studies. Peptides are at the core of Henry Meds drug discovery initiative, and this position will be crucial to our research efforts to develop novel therapies for metabolic diseases. 

The biology group is responsible for assay development, in vitro testing, in vivo study design to advance our drug candidates to clinical phase. As a key member of this team, this Scientist will build the operations and processes needed to deliver the high-quality reagents and data that form the foundation of future innovative treatments. Activities include but are not limited to assay design, in vitro testing, analog design. The role involves close interaction with colleagues in the peptide synthesis and analytical groups. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of accomplishments in laboratory research, excellent communication and time management skills, and the ability to initiate and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external partners.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead biology efforts for several drug discovery projects.  
  • In vitro testing.
  • Design of in vivo studies.
  • Develop and maintain relations with CRO. 
  • Development of disease relevant in vitro and ex-vivo models.
  • Responsible for protein expression, purification, and protein engineering.
  • Assist the peptide synthesis group in designing analogue sets.
  • Detailed documentation of laboratory work to enable regulatory submissions and intellectual property protection.
  • Coordination of work with formulation development and analytical development specialists.
  • Management of timelines and deliverables.

 

You will likely have:

  • PhD with 3-10+ years research experience.
  • The position requires experience in GPCR in vitro assay
  • Experience in molecular cloning and designing expression vectors.
  • Experience in protein expression, purification, and protein engineering.
  • Knowledge of mass spec and biophysical techniques to study protein structure and function.
  • Experience in assay development and HTS.
  • Lead peptide drug discovery program.
  • Strong understanding of peptide drug development is a must.
  • Any experience in our metabolic diseases is a plus.

 

You may have:

  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Competency in multiple aspects of drug discovery with focus on designing and executing a variety of cell based and biochemical assays.
  • Proven track record in cloning, cell culture, protein expression, purification, and characterization.
  • Proficient in biochemical and immunological assays (ELISA, SPR, WB, FACS, etc.).
  • Independent experimental design and execution, analytical problem-solving capabilities.
  • Understanding of peptide immunogenicity and Pharmacokinetic.
  • Ability to stay on top of the latest scientific research related to GPCR and metabolism disease, with commitment to deep knowledge in project specific biology.
  • Excellent ability to work in cross-functional teams with colleagues who have complementary expertise and experience.
  • Ability to stay focused in stressful times and maintain a professional demeanor.
  • Excellent project management and prioritization skills including ability to handle multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
  • Demonstrated capability and passion for developing talent and a culture of innovation, collaboration, and engagement.
  • Humility and desire to make the world a better place is highly desired.

Salary Range:

$160-170K Annually 

This salary represents Henry Med's good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation for this role at the time of posting, and Henry Meds may ultimately pay more or less than the posted salary. The final salary for this position will be determined by Henry Meds sole discretion, consistent with applicable law, and based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the employee’s work experience, skills, and qualifications for the role, as well as the needs of Henry Meds business and other operational considerations.
