Job Description:
We are looking for a Senior Scientific Engineer to join our Weather Intelligence team. This role will focus on integrating weather data platforms to produce meteorological solutions that contribute to DTN’s overall weather product portfolio. Responsibilities will include developing, maintaining and enhancing processing systems utilizing weather radar, satellite, surface observations and forecasting platform data. This role is remote within the United States.
What you will be responsible for:
- Development of cloud-based meteorological solutions utilizing remotely sensed weather data
- Build to ensure continued 24x7 operations, data quality, and product governance
- Continuously enhance delivery through process improvement and refinement
- Collaborate with other meteorological engineers and data scientists to infuse state-of-the-science solutions
- Continuously improve integrated meteorological data products through the Agile software development process
- Seek out opportunities to innovate within DTN’s product portfolios
What you will bring to the role:
- Minimum 5 years relevant work experience
- Strong software development experience utilizing geospatial data in NetCDF, GeoTIFF, and HDF5 data formats
- Proficiency in Python and Linux scripting
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines within GitLab framework
- Familiarity with DataDog monitors and dashboards to analyze processing systems
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and container-based systems
- Machine Learning experience (Jupyter&/Python) is a plus
- A collaborative attitude with attention to detail

The targeted hiring base pay range for this position is between $101,250 and $135,000 USD. DTN is a pay for performance organization, which means there is the opportunity to advance your compensation with performance over time.
