Position Description
The newly created Senior Project Manager will work in the Energy & Industrial Group (EIG) as the construction subject matter expert, responsible for supplementing engineering with all things construction on all projects and will be instrumental in helping to develop and direct the scope and schedules of design projects for our clients. We are seeking a proven leader who can not only ensure the delivery of essential core design services through a construction lens, but do so with the highest level of alignment with our core values.
Reporting directly to the Construction Management & Commissioning Services Director, the Senior Project Manager will be part of the senior leadership team and will be responsible for leading as many as 5 projects at a time, ranging in size from $500M to $1B.
The core functions within the Senior Project Manager scope are:
- To be the Construction subject matter expert and interface with all lead managers/team leads, while leveraging that knowledge for all projects within our Energy & Industrial Group (EIG), as well as serve S&L across other business units that require construction experience
- Manage and execute financials, cost estimation,
- Provide oversight to the projects overall cost and schedule
This position will be based in the U.S. and will travel often to any and all locations where S&L EPC solutions and services are located.
Qualifications

The following skills, experience, and qualifications are required:
- Technical Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university or 20 years of power industry experience
- 20+ years of power industry experience; with focus on full construction experience. Experience with advanced class combined cycle projects, environmental retrofit projects and new generation combined heat and power projects is preferred
- 15+ years in progressive leadership roles, managing multiple clients, vendors and projects, influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to communicate intentionally and clearly across multiple stakeholders, vendors, teammates and business partners
- Ability to identify and capture new business opportunities
- Ability to facilitate and maintain new client relationships
- Must be able to travel
- High functional skills and results orientation: reflected by a demonstrated ability to envision detailed solutions and services that marry engineering and design from a construction perspective to meet and/or exceed the needs of our clients.
- Solid strategic orientation: it will be key to understand strategic stakes and business objectives, integrate all relevant data across and outside the organization to frame right questions, evaluate options, solve issues and co-develop a strategy that sets priorities clearly and judiciously from a construction viewpoint. The EPC Project Director must be able to function as a partner to the line of business they are serving and be considered, in an appropriate way, a subject matter expert, facilitator and influencer in senior level discussions.
- High collaboration and influence skills: The candidate will also have demonstrated their ability to build meaningful relationships in a large and complex enterprise across business functions, levels and geographic borders. The candidate must be skilled in communicating complex ideas and must be open to ideas from others.
