The role 

Morningstar is looking for a Senior UI/UX Designer to support our Workplace design team. You’ll focus on improving and evolving products that help investors succeed. You will partner with product owners, engineering leads, leadership as well as other designers to deliver high-quality scalable solutions.  

We’re looking for someone who is: 

  • Open to working collaboratively with the product owners, designers, and engineers to make decisions on our products. 
  • Making complex information understandable and formulating design concepts that are engaging, attractive, and user-friendly 
  • Created high-fidelity prototypes with interactive transitions, visual specs, and other artifacts to communicate detailed design direction, as needed. 
  • Interested in collecting, interpreting, and prioritizing the User testing data to better understand the customers needs. 
  • Participate in user research and prototyping activities, such as helping with planning, production,  and helping analyze the data.  
  • Use design thinking to drive conversations around product goals and needs, while creating artifacts and presenting concepts using appropriate methods. 
  • Create designs that are engaging and easily digestible for users 
  • Always remain open to feedback. 

 

Basic qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Digital Design, Communication Arts, Human-Computer Interaction, Industrial Engineering/Design, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. 

  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience designing for software, web, and/or digital products.   

  • A background UI/UX design, information architecture, product design, or similar design experience 

  • An understanding of Visual, UX design principles, and user-centered design 

  • Experience planning and conducting research activities, such as user interviews and usability testing 

  • Experience working with design systems  

  • Strong knowledge of Figma, Adobe design suite, Microsoft Office 365, and macOS preferred 

  • Experience with Qualtrics (or similar) testing platform  

 

Responsibilities 

  • Collaborate with colleagues on all parts of the process, from discovery, definition, development, and delivery 

  • Owning all parts of the design process on assigned projects. 

  • Design and plan for product improvements/features while considering the future needs of our software. 

  • Create wireframes, low-fidelity prototypes, task flows, and other artifacts to visualize and communicate design direction  

  • Conduct, analyze, and communicate user research; these may include user interviews and  
    usability testing, etc.

Base Salary Compensation Range

$80,457.00 - $136,761.00

Total Cash Compensation Range

$92,525.00 - 157,275.00 USD Annual

Morningstar’s hybrid work environment gives you the opportunity to work remotely and collaborate in-person each week. While some positions are available as fully remote, we’ve found that we’re at our best when we’re purposely together on a regular basis, typically three days each week.
