Lithia & Driveway | Senior Product Designer

Location: Remote, PST preferred

Compensation: $100,000-$120,000 annually w/ bonus potential

As a Sr. Product Designer, you'll be an integral part of shaping Driveway.com, crafting beautiful and intuitive experiences that make car ownership accessible to a new generation. Working primarily on our e-commerce site, you'll tackle everything from exciting new features to design enhancements that elevate the overall user experience. You'll collaborate with a close-knit, creative team that values innovation, candid feedback, quick wit, and the occasional gif in Teams. Responsibilities 

Product Design & Strategy 

  • Support Lead Designer on roadmap feature design and enhancement work, while executing each phase from research and competitive analysis through final engineering specifications 

  • Explore and articulate a wide range of design options, clearly communicating the trade-offs and rationale behind each solution 

  • Partner with product to define key questions and problems to explore, while using metrics to make data-informed decisions 

  • Consider states and edge cases when designing for complex systems and document solutions to help onboard other team members 

  • Deliver meticulously detailed design specifications that provide engineering teams with precise guidance on spacing, interactions, states, and component behavior 

  • Work with Principal Designer to deepen domain knowledge and align with Driveway's brand, voice, and style 

 

Design Excellence 

  • Create sophisticated user flows, wireframes, and interactive prototypes that incorporate animations and transitions 

  • Maintain highly organized Figma files with clear documentation, components, and meeting notes 

  • Work closely with Design System Lead to ensure proper usage of Sequoia Design System and contribute improvements when needed 

  • Collaborate with design team to craft clear, compelling value propositions for features 

  • Identify and address information hierarchy issues that affect readability 

  • Champion accessibility standards and inclusive design practices 

  • Participate in user research sessions and synthesis 

  • Help define and track success metrics for design initiatives 

 

Team Collaboration & Communication 

  • Present design work effectively to various audiences, guiding discussions to obtain actionable feedback 

  • Actively participate in design critiques, sharing work openly and incorporating team feedback constructively 

  • Build confidence in direction with engineering and product partners before executing 

  • Manage multiple workstreams effectively, communicating priorities clearly and meeting consistent delivery cadences 

  • Host bug bashes for projects and address post-launch issues proactively 

  • Contribute to team culture through participating in hiring activities, planning team initiatives, and suggesting process improvements 

 

Skills and Qualifications 

  • 5+ years of product design experience with a strong portfolio showcasing recent work in digital products 

  • Familiarity working in agile environment—creating design stories, pointing, working in sprints 

  • Expert knowledge of product design methodology and user-centered design principles 

  • Proven ability to make data-informed decisions and translate complex requirements into intuitive solutions 

  • Strong visual design competency, including typography, color theory, and layout 

  • Strong attention to detail 

  • Advanced proficiency with Figma and modern design tools 

  • Familiarity with UserTesting.com, Notion, Whimsical, and Azure DevOps a plus 

  • Excellence in written and verbal communication, with demonstrated ability to present work clearly and tell compelling stories 

  • Experience working with and contributing to design systems 

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects independently while maintaining high quality standards 

  • Track record of mentoring others and contributing to team growth 

 

Nice to Have 

  • Basic understanding of front-end technologies (HTML/CSS/JavaScript) 

  • Experience in e-commerce or automotive industry 

  • Background in designing content-heavy interfaces and information architecture
