Built Technologies is looking for a Senior Product Designer to join our Owner & Contractor team. As a Senior Product Designer you will be responsible for owning the design strategy and execution within your product area. You lead by example, thrive in establishing clarity amid ambiguity, and bring others along with you in the process. You have experience solving complex problems, can remain focused in a fast-paced environment, and have the ability to zoom out and see the big picture.

What you’ll do:

  • Partner with product and engineering to deliver premium products and services to Built customers
  • Become an expert in construction finance by observing, learning from, and empathizing with new and existing customers
  • Provide clear vision, design direction and ownership for each initiative: creating deliverables, communicating with your team, & validating your work with customers
  • Show your work during the conceptual design phase by creating user flows, story maps, workflow diagrams, and other strategic artifacts as necessary
  • Explore multiple solutions to problems, knowing when to spend the time on high-fidelity mockups and prototypes versus simple sketches and wireframes
  • Humbly present your work to others and be receptive to feedback
  • Collaborate regularly with engineers to measure design feasibility, pivot when necessary, and ensure designs are implemented in accordance with intent
  • Monitor where design patterns break down, and promote necessary changes to our design system and processes
  • Be generous with your time and expertise to help level up colleagues, provide ad-hoc design critique, and improve the team holistically
  • Define metrics for user engagement within your product area and work with others to analyze data, identify trends, and opportunities for iteration
  • Help build the product design team by participating in interviews and providing thoughtful feedback
  • Be an advocate for the user. Always.

Who you are:

  • You have 5+ years experience, ideally within a SaaS company
  • You have an aptitude for deconstructing complex problems within a complicated business domain (construction finance)
  • You’re a great designer and a better problem-solver with a portfolio of examples demonstrating your work, success, and even failures
  • You’re comfortable leading discovery sessions with customers, walking them through prototypes, and coordinating user testing opportunities
  • You’re a strategic thinker with big ideas, but understand when to focus on the details to get the job done.
  • You’re not afraid to stand up for your designs, but also humble enough to take feedback and constructive criticism well
  • You’re comfortable diving into an existing application and finding the balance between leveraging work in place versus starting from scratch
  • You can quickly prototype your ideas for feedback using a variety of tools
  • You often explore new tools and methods and make recommendations where appropriate
  • You have worked with a design system and successfully distributed it across an organization
  • You are deeply familiar with the tools that bring design to life in the browser: HTML/CSS/Javascript (React)
  • You are passionate about accessibility and best practices for making products usable for all
